Oral HRT
« on: October 25, 2022, 05:36:32 AM »

Hi ladies,
Are any of you ladies having much success with oral oestrogen tablets? I’ve tried femeston conti, but it isn’t enough oestrogen for me.

Been on patches  since October 2020 (75 dose) but it’s not doing much these days. 100 just makes me feel vile. Gel I don’t absorb much, so thought maybe  something like zumenon??

Sleep, palpitations and anxiety seem to have reached an all time peak 😢

Thanks 😊

I started a trial of Elleste Duette Combi pills 3 weeks ago as my first HRT.
They’ve helped with some symptoms but like you NAS I’m still struggling with sleep, night sweats and anxiety. The latter is through the roof right now, not helped by my boss at work making my life an utter misery.
Saw my Dr yesterday about it and waiting for him to come back to me with a plan after I did a couple of tests to look at whether I needed other meds for the anxiety or if the HRT needs changing. If it’s the latter, they won’t change it until I’ve been taking it for at least 4 weeks (although ideally they’d want me to go the full 3 months of the trial).
It’s horrid feeling so out of control isn’t it. I keep telling myself it’s irrational and I have nothing to get myself into this state about but my mind just can’t seem to get a grip.

Hi EmC,
Sorry you are struggling also, it’s really unpleasant isn’t it?

You probably need to give your hrt the full 3 months, to see if it helps or not. Anxiety is a killer, along with lack of sleep. I’ve been on this crappy journey 4 years and can’t get either under control for some reason.

That’s awful your boss being so horrid, not what you need at all. Can you find something else work wise? I desperately need a higher paid job, but with my sleep being so sporadic, I’m better off procrastinating in my low paid role for now. Not ideal either!

Really hope you pick up soon. My mind also goes awol!

Nas I’m assuming you need the Conti or could you try Femoston 2/10?

I’m also struggling to get some control with different preps and having major issues with anxiety peaks the same as yourself and Emma x

Hi shopping,
I did try femeston conti back in April to July. I liked it, but alas, the oestrogen was way too low for me. I have a coil now, so ideally require an oestrogen only product.

It never ends, all of this x

Hey Nas

I was on premarin tablets for years and loved it, easy to take and helped all my symptoms

Hi Nas,

Femoston Conti takes a few months, and you could always add an extra pump of Oestrogel. This is agreed by Newson clinic.

Hi Warwick,
Can you take FC with a coil? I thought it might be too much progesterone?

Nas

Sorry didn't know you had a coil. however, if Femoston conti suited you then can't see it making any difference esp with extra gel..... all about symptom control. Better more progesterone than too little.

Yes true.
Might give it another go I guess.
Got to trial these things. Just remembered that the bladder  issues returned towards the end of the 3 months. Maybe I could take 2 tablets?

Hi Nas
I read on here a member who took 2 Femoston Conti 1/5- one in morning and one pm.
When I was on Femoston (I loved it once it got on top of my symptoms) my Endo got me to add a pump of gel as Warwick suggests. I have no idea why I changed!! Well, I do as I was put on Levothyroxine, but honestly I wish I’d stayed with it. I didn’t realise then if it impacted Levo absorption you could just increase Levo.
Things haven’t been right since x

Hi shopping,
Yes I liked FC too and do have a good six months worth sitting here. I might try taking 2 tablets and see how I feel. I can always stop if I feel grim.

That’s a shame re: your levothyroxine issue. These things are never simple. If only we were well informed!

What are you on now then? X

Hi

I loved Femeston 2/10! I had to come off it because it wasn’t working but looking back I should’ve just added gel in - it wasn’t a thing then!
It’s all such a minefield.
