Flossieteacake thank you I am not at all brave when it comes to me x

I can understand that. Do not be hard on yourself, Booroo. Many people are concerned when it comes to trying medications. I just wanted to reassure you.

GPs shouldn't be suggesting 'replens', why they don't give 3 months appropriate VA treatment .......

No wonder patients get upset if GPs won't prescribe what should be obvious.  If the urine sample is sent to a Lab: which often needs insisting upon as a dip stick isn't always wise: and doesn't grow bugs, then VA should be considered.

Let us know how you get on.

Ayesha I take it on exam you didn’t have prolapse I didn’t but she didn’t say atrophy but did prescription for vagirux tablets but was told to try replens first and here we are. I am a dreadful worried with side effects from things and what it may do how does anyone come to decide hrt either normal or topical is worth the risk of having breast cancer etc x

No, it wasn't a prolapse and it was me that refused the treatment at first saying I will try the moisturisers first. I was back within a week begging for treatment as I found it impossible to live with chronic VA which mine had progressed to.

I am about 20 years older than you, and you have a lot of time to keep on top of your symptoms and I would suggest referring back to this thread to keep afresh of all the advice given here. Topical HRT is safe to use, you can even buy it over the counter now and that wouldn't have happened in the UK if it wasn't.

Yes it can do. Maybe it would help to read the Burning Club? It is a thread were members talk about their VA and how it is affecting them. Here is the link:

You do not need a physical examination for atrophy as for some people there are no physical signs. If it helps to reassure you then it is worth it though.  :)

I hope your appointment goes well and you are given some VA treatment. I find Ovestin (a cream) a bit more gentle then a pessary to begin with.

You will need to have something inside or that area will not get any oestrogen which is what we badly need when suffering from VA. Ovestin is a cream that can be inserted with an applicator but you could use a finger instead if that is easier.

It is horrible to be so sore but the sooner you start the treatment the sooner your body will feel better. You will not always be in this pain.

I guess so.
Does being stressed and over weight contribute to it do you know?

Being stressed does. When I am stressed I notice it flares and I feel in more pain. I do not think it is weight related at all.
