When to take more estrogen?
« on: October 20, 2022, 11:18:59 AM »

Hi all

I'm on combined HRT - 200mg utrogestan from days 15 to 26 of my cycle and 1mg sachet of Sandrena gel per day. I'm still having withdrawal bleeds and was having irregular periods before I started HRT so suppose I'm technically in peri.

The 1 mg of Sandrena dealt with the flashes and night sweats, itching skin and erratic heart beats very quickly. However, after 6 months usage, and the return of regular "cycles" with associated PMS symptoms I'm now experiencing a racing heart again in the later stages of the cycle.

My question is when do you know that you should increase your estrogen dosage?

I'm a bit reluctant to double my Sandrena dosage to 2 mg as that seems like a big hike, but, unfortunately no local pharmacy Carrie's the 0.5 mg sachets, so I can't step it up gradually. I'm trying to speak to my Dr to switch to oestrogel so that I can manage the dosage more gently.

What is everyone's experience of increasing oestrogen dosage? How did you manage it? What symptoms or changes did you notice? Did you have heavier withdrawal bleeds?

Any advice and shared experiences gratefully received.

Hi!  Some will hike the HRT but not every night.  Too often too soon might upset the body.

Thank you for replying. So a higher dose every other day?

Some find twice a week enough initially.

MayB put the product name/s into the search box to see how others deal with fluctuating hormones.

You should tak3 the same amount of oestrogen every day. If you take differing amounts the change in dosage will cause a fluctuation in your levels and cause symptoms to return. x

Whatever you do, use the same amount of oestrogen consistently, otherwise you are heading for trouble( fluctuations and all kinds of unwanted symptoms).

I agree with Dotty and Nas, a consistent dose is important. I hope you can get some Oestrogel soon, as I imagine gauging a half sachet of 1mg Sandrena might be tricky. It does sound as though you need an increase if symptoms are returning.
