Hi,

Just wondered if anyone knows if an estrogen blood test whilst in the menopause is reliable? I know it isn't whilst in perimenopause as it is so up and down...

No hormone tests aren’t reliable as our levels fluctuate so much.

If you are postmenopausal, on HRT and therefore getting almost exclusively exogenous estrogen then blood tests are reliable and can be very useful to monitor absorption and progress.

I hope no one minds me hijacking the thread.
My anxiety has crept back up. I have been on 25mcg oestrogen patch since last year, and the anxiety is getting worse, I am post menopausal.
Is this possible?

In post menopause blood tests are useful if you’re still getting symptoms on a high dose of oestrogen to check that you are absorbing. Other than that blood tests may be reliable, but won’t give you any information that’s useful.

Dandelion….if you’re anxiety is creeping back it’s likely that your dose of oestrogen is not high enough. x
