Anti depressants for hot flushes - update
« on: September 22, 2022, 07:58:38 AM »

I posted on here a couple of month ago regarding my doc prescribing the anti depressant sertraline for my hot flushes.

Thought I’d give you an update. They are working!!

I was originally on 50mg once a day but after 4 weeks I was still suffering the hot flushes so the doc advised upping the dose to 50mg twice a day. I’m now on week 5 of twice a day and am over the moon to find they’ve helped soooooooo much! I’m still getting the odd flush now and again, but they’re nowhere near as bad and last less time.

I was originally very anti taking any form of AD because of the stigma attached to them. But I’m so pleased I gave them a try. For me they’re a game changer and I’m ridiculously happy that they’re working for me 😀😀

I am very happy to hear your hot flushes are reducing. I know ADs have a stigma but often this is for the older types that are no longer prescribed. I take ADs daily and have done most of my life.
