Query about HRT increase
« on: June 21, 2025, 09:11:07 PM »

Hi everyone,

I recently had my HRT review where I have stayed with Evorel 75 and 200mg progesterone pill for 12 days of my cycle.

The nurse said we can stick with this level for the next 12 months but in the mean time if I am struggling I know where they are. I wouldn’t use the word struggling but I do still have some symptoms which annoy the hell out of me at certain times in the month - anxiety, tingling soles of feet, restlessness and night waking, snappy mood and itchy skin are the main ones. They aren’t as bad as when I was on a lower dose but do you think I can ask for Evorel 100 bit stay with 200 progesterone? Or will that have to be increased too? The reason I ask is because when I am taking the progesterone, I do feel a bit down and anxious, snappy at my hubby and my skin gets so dry. If I increase that surely those symptoms will worsen at the latter part of my cycle.

Thanks in advance

Until very recently 200mg was the standard dose (according to the manufacturer as well as the nhs) so presumably most people were fine with that amount. There are other synthetic progestogen you might find suit you better than utro, or a mirena. Personally I think you need to increase oestrogen to control your symptoms and then sort out the progesterone (but only change one thing at a time).

Thank you for replying.

I’ve seen some comments on here where people have dropped the 200 progesterone down to 100 daily to tolerate it better I don’t know if that’s advised but i will speak to my gp about increasing the oestrogen and see if I can stay with the same progesterone as I can just about tolerate the mood swings and anxiety. I take 2 magnesium biglycinate daily too which helps.
