Utrogesten side effects
« on: September 07, 2022, 08:29:28 PM »

Hi I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar side effects. I have been on evorel patches and utrogestan for 6 months. I take utrogestan 14 days on/ 14 days off. The first month fine, second and third awful trapped wind, bloated feeling and general achy tummy, like I had overeaten. Then I was fine for a couple of months and tolerated it well but now these symptoms have come back again during this cycle of utrogetsan. Anyone else the same? Does it ever go away? What do you do to ease this? My specialist hasn't mentioned using this vaginally although I know some do or being able to reduce amount of days only that I could consider a coil as an alternative which I really don't want.

Hi cats4242,

I'm new to HRT myself so the more experienced ladies may wish to answer this, however, I am post meno and on utrogestan.

I don't suffer from bloating, trapped wind myself but I understand this is a side effect of the progesterone and apparantely it does settle with time. Peppermint tea is really good for trapped wind, Holland and Barrett do some charcoal capsules which is really good for trapped wind.

Hope you get sorted xxx

The prescribed dose is 200mg x 12 days not 14. Taking it vaginally should avoid any digestive issues so worth a try imo.

Thank you, will look at charcoal, im using peppermint capsules at the minute to see if they help. Im with the Newson Clinic and they have prescribed it 14 on/ 14 off, I've heard many women do it for 12 days though not sure if the difference in days matter or not?
