Out of curiosity, the first time I took an SSRI, I had noticable side effects (shakes etc) the first few days but they worked brilliantly for me. I came offf them after a year and when went back on them a few years later, they didn't have any effect
.I tried a different SSRI a few years later again and couldn't see any improvement.. Can SSRIs stop working if stop/restart?

Did you withdraw slowly or just stop cold turkey? It is a shame you did not find you could use the one that helped you previously.
Stopped over a few weeks, every second day etc..I took in my early 30s when was having difficulty with a relationship and crying all the time. So it worked for depression. I think I just hate taking any meds at all so I'd always try to come off them after a year. Id love to get my file from my GP as can't even remember how many times I've been on and off them and which ones tried etc etc. I just remember the most recent time when I honestly felt more anxious on them.

I know many people stop antidepressants as they feel better, only to them feel depressed. It is the antidepressant that makes them feel better which is why stopping makes them feel low.

I know many people hate to take medication. For me I think of quality of life. If something improves your mood I see it as well worth it. I know I could not function myself without my antidepressant.
