Oh Sarah, I'm sorry to hear that, I'd hoped it was just a bad day / blip. Do you think hormones need adjusting too?

I don't think my gp will go any higher Penguin, am on 125 patch which is above guidlines.

All my levels of bloods are always low in the ranges, iron a measly 30, oestrogen was just under 300, low pulse, low bp,underactive thyroid!

My gut feeling given I am having tests 're low cortisol is my adrenal are not working so my body may not be able to absorb medication well?  Can also affect all the types of hormones So maybe throwing the HRT and Thyroxine out?  So I am trying to hang on for the hospital blood test and see what shows up.

Thanks for the reply, helps a lot xx

You're not underweight by any chance are you? When I was underweight a year ago my BP and HR went very low and my estrogen tanked (albeit this was before hrt). I've read that when you put on weight your estrogen can go up as fat cells store estrogen (or something like that).

I wondered too whether you have absorption issues if your level is 300 on that high a dose. Hopefully getting adrenals sorted may help that. I think a naturopath or functional medicine doctor may be able to help you once you know what's what. Would you be interested in seeing someone like that? I addressed my high cortisol levels with a functional medicine specialist.

Hey Penguin
Opposite for me, I have always been prone to putting on weight especially this Last year as I can't exercise.

I did see a herbalist when I first had ME some 30 years ago, and helping myself as much as from professionals is important to me, so a mix of traditional and alternative can work for me too. I did bring up my various low levels with my gp, am sure this has a hearing on rubbish being pretty exhausted, stress is course a factor too.
Hope I can just keep head above water, speak with my counsellor and then get the tests done. Just a horrible monotonic me when I'm down. But we're all used to a bit of that aren't we?!

Thanks xx

If your cortisol is low there are definitely things you can do supplement wise.
Was thinking about things like Cortisol Manager,  or adaptogens like rhodiola rosea which help bring things back into balance. If ever you want a FM recommendation pls let me know, as I see a great guy in London. Actually travel in to still see him as we don't live in London anymore. He's great, and so empathetic and kind too.

Oh thank you Penguin, so kind with you advice.

For now, I know I have to wait for the hospital test and results and see what turns up and any treatment  if a diagnosis is reached. As you say with your suggestions, I genuinely  think everything is out of balance ( heartbreaking for a Libra like me😵). I will bear in mind the FM if I need to go down that route too. CLKD also says thyroid can be thrown out of place with the peri upheavel which is something I have been conscious f myself. Haven't had blood tests down for several months now so may need an update unless the endo dept will cross check at hospital
If my moods stay very low I will contact my GP prior to my hospital appt. I am upset as I had found a stability the last couple of months with the HRT and the low dose AD, so this is hard to deal with. Fingers crossed it is something that may lift in a day or two. If not, I will seek drs advice.

Thanks so much x

Today I sat on the sofa to have my breakfast then felt an overwhelming tiredness and couldn’t make myself move then when I summoned the energy to get up I went to bed and slept again. Is anyone else needing loads of sleep right now? Luckily I worked on Sunday so didn’t feel too bad giving myself the day off work.

A better day today, put some music on at lunchtime and found myself enjoying it, so kept it on all afternoon. I may need to be pro active over the winter to keep my spirits up.

Glad you felt better today! Totally agree with you about being active. I have felt really down and fed up the last few days, made myself go to yoga this morning and even though it was a relaxing rather than energetic class, my spirits felt so much higher afterwards. I was surprised at how much of a difference it made.

Katherine - I am often finding it difficult to wake in the morning and am quite happy to have a doze mid afternoon when necessary.

Apart from reflux, my day has been OK thus far  8)

Katherine, I really hear you.  Planning fun things with friends and family lifts the spirits and gives me a bit of energy and focus over winter.  Stay well and think of :sunny:

I’m glad you feel better too Penguin. I need to do the same, I tend to do things only if I feel like it if I have the option but sometimes I think I need to make myself do things that might make me feel better. I am paying for a gym membership and I haven’t been for months so that’s something I can do. Thanks for replying Penguin, we will get through it. I hope you have a good day tomorrow too.

I’m glad your day has been ok so far. Have you tried Gaviscon Advance? I find it very good.

And whilst it's miserable dark wet weather now, when it gets to those crisp cold days ( and it will ) wrap up and get outside to benefit from those cold but sunny days. Exercise in any form is so beneficial for mind and body, particularly one those days when we force ourselves to get up and about.
