Bit of a weird day yesterday. Met friends (husband & wife) for dinner and they brought some of their friends along. The new lady insisted on sitting in the middle of the table and totally ignored me for the first 10 mins, then ordered the most expensive item on the menu for herself and husband, then insisted on helping our lady friend (treating like a child) place an order for the cheapest menu item, before turning her attention to me claiming "oh you're going to need a lot of help aren't you dear, you poor thing"! 
Fortunately the waiter was standing next to me so I turned my back on her and spoke directly to the waiter and said I could manage just fine. I ordered my food then said that we wanted separate bills for the 3 couples. She actually tried to argue but I just said "Oh but I can't expect you to pay if I want something expensive. No, I'd feel so bad. Separate bills is definitely fairer". She ignored me for the rest of the meal too 

OH thinks we may not be invited again

Stopped for food, then went to the supermarket.
Back home just before the rain started.
I’ve been really cold today, 1st time I’ve felt the cold for a while. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Think my thermostat has been corrected.

Went for my covid booster and flu vaccine today.
Just returned from visiting hubby in hospital. Geez, I don't like being in the house myself (maybe I should have got a rottweiler rather than the cockapoo)! Aww, only kidding

Was the meal OK ?

Drove to the village shop for supplies to find that the papers haven't arrived: inserts, yes; suits me as I want the puzzles, hardly read the papers.  I've a pile from 3 weeks ago 

Light lunch part taken of.  DH is doing something with his bow  , fire ready to be lit.  I'm trying to get enthusiastic about writing cards, apparently there Is Something On!

Pity about the weather as it's a nationwide 'support local dealers' initiative ............. our local market was cancelled!

CLKD, so true about wanting to Lord it over everyone. Does the fact she ignored me mean I was saved  I usually get home and rethink the scenario with so many witty replies, but 'd had time to realise what she was like so that helped, and I'd planned to say separate bills when I saw what she was ordering. I've been in that position before with people and ended up paying twice as much as my fair share. We did give the lovely waiter a large tip, especially after she treated him like dirt then ordered her husband to "just pay for what we've had".

Certainly 1 to avoid!  How did the husband react, I love watching these types of interaction  .

Been to meet friends at an antique fair, home avoiding any fallen branches; wood burner lit, baked spuds and crispy bacon eaten. Feet up, fire glowing.

The husband seemed quite nice and he chatted to OH a bit, but his wife would suddenly demand his attention and he was well trained! Anything for a quiet life   
Before we went our friends told us what an interesting person she was. She''d supposedly been everywhere and done everything, but listening to her I think the majority of the stuff she'd seen was on the telly 

It wasn't exactly a stimulating evening but it did wonders for my self esteem  I've been feeling quite proud of myself since.

    those types of people often have low esteem, though I have worked with a couple of men who had done 'it' and far better than any1 else present.     .  If I had climbed a sand dune, he had got to the top of Everest. 

Some people like the sound of their own voices  .  What does DH think after the Event ?  R they people that U will have to meet again?

I'm a great people watcher 

Many years ago neighbours living here at the time, she was obviously in control because if the OH was seen talking to any neighbours she would tap on the window    - if any1 had done that to me

I can just imagine 

but you should find some small obscure fact and ask them about it, or make up something amazing and ask if they saw it, then watch them say of course they did knowing that it's a total fake!!!

Aaaahahahaha great minds getting_old, I said to my OH once,let's ask her (this woman who assumed we wanted to know her entire life) if,like us,she'd been invited to the Queens garden party 😂🤣
