Had “words” with gynaecology outpatients today, following an appointment which mum attended yesterday. I took her up to have her “6 monthly” change of prolapse pessary. When she came out she said that it had been sore this time around. She didn’t say anything else and remained pretty quiet for the rest of the day.
I found out today that she hadn’t slept a wink last night due to the discomfort and that the nurse had been, as mum put it, “very heavy handed” and that she had cried out in pain at the time! So much for care and compassion!! They need to get off the bleedin picket line and get back in touch with their compassionate side! She didn’t want to tell me at the hospital because she knew I would have ripped into the nurse! Bloody right I would have!
Anyhow, they got the message when I phoned today! She has never had any trouble in the past (when the consultant does the procedure).
It won’t happen again because I’ll insist on being in the room. Rant over
