Tnx.  The attitude was "Had a Doctor prescribed this you would have been told to stop statins and Omeprazol".  However, as this was a dental request the Pharmacist should have made sure that all queries had been covered.   :-\.  That's why they are Pharmacists!

Home.  Cuppa to hand.  Will take 1st two horse tablets  :o around noon .

Do you mean ABs?

I’d be checking back with the doctor as to what the dentist had prescribed if the pharmacist said that.

I mean ABs  ::) = horse tablets they are HUGE  :-X.  1st two swallowed.

"Had a Doctor" not any particular GP.  I've sent an e-mail the Pharmacist at the surgery, asking for the saga to be added to my Notes.

Pizza eaten.  Finger of Twix.  cuppa to hand.  Feet up .........

Earlier I put a hellebores from 1 pot into a larger 1, job done at the same moment that heavy drizzle started.   8). A few pots have been moved, I've put the hellebores in a corner: white, pale pink, deep purple - should give a good display from Feb..  That'll be after Christmas then  :whist:

Oh I see clkd,a pharmacist won't query a prescription,it would be down to the dr to decide if you can take the prescribed item, sorry, thought you meant you'd bought something over the counter  :-\

Tnx. The dentist issued the prescription.  However, IMO a Pharmacist should ask questions B4 issuing the medication ........... as a double safety.  And to cover themselves .  Patients surely aren't expected to know which meds interact with X, Y, Z to be dangerous, which is why there are Pharmacists.   :-\  ???  There's a gap in care ........... as this wasn't issued by a GP she should have checked.

Another issue to write to Steve Barclay about!  Off to sort laundry.  And to put on another jumper!

Was the pharmacist one you regularly use CLKD?
Mind you even if they were your usual pharmacist, perhaps they do defer to the professionals  issuing  the scripts.

Somebody, think  it may have been Minusminnie made the point that we have to  take some responsibility  for checking things ourselves.  I agree we shouldn't have to, but it does make sense.

I'm not a medic so why should I take responsibility of querying a qualified Pharmacist? Limpy: R U aware of which medications might be contradicted to others that may be taken?

My medication is handled by my GP surgery.

The plot thickens:  I want to speak to the Pharmacist at the surgery: so sent an e-mail this afternoon bringing him up2date with the situation and asking for my medical notes to be updated 'cos I won't remember what's happened  ;D.  I've had a call from someone at the surgery insisting that I can't stop the medication cold turkey and that I should have an emergency telephone conversation from a Nurse in the morning.

Well nope, not here.  Away from early in the morning.  A big sigh from the other end.  I have agreed that a Nurse from our Surgery can phone me on Friday morning though apparently if she's busy .........  ::). Even though I told her that a Pharamist at Boots had told me to stop because the ABs are more important  >:(.  This could turn out to be a bit of a Soap Saga!

Lolly to hand.

Is it a statin you are stopping?

I always read the patient info leaflets to check there are no contraindications as I do have quite a few allergies. Maybe I don't trust people to check  :)

if you look on the NICE website under British National Formulary it can give you some information re drug interactions.

In this computer age you might hope that in case a GP or dentist has not read your notes that a 'red flag' of some sort would flash up for any medications that you should not be prescribed.
My OH says that AI might eventually help with something like this.

Morning.  If the NHS had organised the computer system in the 1990s so that every dept could read notes as appropriate, that system of red flag may well have worked.  However, because Health Authorities went their own way, buying into systems that then didn't 'talk to each other' ...........  >:( at a cost of £Bs to the tax payer.  Then there were those who worried about anyone being able to read their medical history .......

Slowly coming round.  Whole week has been altered thus far.  Spent half the night waiting for the ABs to upset my stomach  :-\.  Deep bath had, toast to hand.  I am sleep to avoid my head buzzing.

I don't know about the Statins but Omeprazole can cause horrible acid reflux if stopped abruptly  perhaps that's the one that they're worried out. Mr L was told to stop Omeprazole prior to a procedure,  eventually he found out that if sufficient time were left between different tablets he could continue to take them.

I am something of a sceptic so prefer take the time to look at possible drug interactions. I can read so why would I not take some responsibility for myself?
Yes it is the responsibility of the pharmacist but they are busy people and they can miss things - as they did with you.

It wasn't even messing up, she simply didn't ask.  The shop wasn't particularly busy and that isn't an excuse.

Not a lot.  Working through a pile of newspapers put to one side since August 'to read later'.  Nothing tastes 'right' so struggling with sandwiches.  Another horse pill to pop at
1.30  :-X

1st laundry on the line, 2nd load whizzing round.
