Hrt increase dose and blood results
« on: July 15, 2022, 06:28:17 AM »

Hi all,

Just wondering is it normal to have sore nipples after having your HRT increased?

I’ve been on Evorol 50 for a few years and recently had it increased to Evorol 75.

The doctor also did a blood test and my Oestrogen was 58 is that low?

And my testosterone was 0.8 with a % of 1.4% dose anyone know what that means, is it low?

Thanks

Your estrogen there is very low. It should be at least around 250nmol. Your doctor did right to increase you, you may need further increases and should get bloods retested after a couple months on 75.

Your testosterone is also very low. Are you taking testosterone?

Thanks for your update Joziel.

Not taking testosterone yet but the doctor said I could, going to look at this on my next appointment with her.

I had the same free testosterone as you, 1.4%, when I started on testosterone and it made a big difference taking it. I’m still only on 1.9% so I could increase it but I don’t want lots of tests again so leaving for now and will likely increase in 6-9 months time as I still have signs I need more.

Hi ATB thanks for your thoughts.

Do you mind if I ask what we’re your symptoms to go onto Testosterone? I have no sex drive and brain fog.

Before I go on it I need to start with vaginal oestrogen to help with other issues.

Have you had any I side affects?

I didn’t have a major issue with libido, mildly different but the main issues I was prescribed it for was energy, brain fog, lack of concentration, memory issues, focus, things like that. All have improved or gone. I have noticed quite big changes in my body adding it, easier to build muscle now and less fat because of it, less cellulite things like that. I exercise almost every day and grow my own food so am active a lot whereas at times before HRT I could barely get up and certainly hardly exercise at all, which was important to me before all this- I was an endurance person, lots of distance sports etc I don’t think testosterone has given me any issues. Utrogestan & estrogen were harder to get used to and get the right dose of and I definitely had side effects from those which have mostly eased 9 months in. Good luck with it all

I feel like the testosterone helped my ability to focus, concentrate and work and lose myself in work (ie losing track of time I'm so busy working and concentrating), read... all this stuff I couldn't do before. And also helped with libido and muscle tone. Hasn't given me big muscles but has given me toned muscles! (I do work out tho!)

That's tough Pippa. What have your previous tests been and how much have you been on?

You seem similar to me in that blood levels are quite low (mine are higher than yours and bordering acceptable maybe) but if we increase estrogen, we get rubbish side effects. So I'm not sure what we can do  :'(

joziel - honestly this is all a total nightmare I so agree.  Yes we are very similar in that even small changes in doses seem to have a mega effect on us.  Last October blood levels were 240 on one and quarter sprays of Lenzetto then in May this year it was down to 140 (no dose change) then I had to change off Lenzetto onto patches.Sadly patches were for me, as you know a disaster so  Stopped the patches and was on Lenzetto from last Friday.. 2 sprays  (but only for 3 days before the blood test as consultant wanted a baseline start to compare in 8 weeks time)  Meno consultant said she expected my level to be low as Lenzetto had not had time to build up in my system.  I am supposed to stay on 2 sprays for 4 - 6 weeks then go up to 3 sprays and have another blood test at 8 weeks. Just praying things calm down as was doing ok but today certainly has been far from ok.   Ho hum.  How are you today? xx

Oh Pippa, that's not so bad  :) I did a bit of reading about Lenzetto in case I want to switch to it and it does take time to build up in your system.

What if... You didn't absorb well from the patches, which is partly why you felt rubbish on them, and why you also got a low estrogen result just now? Then, with the Lenzetto having more time to build up, you might get a decent result on your next test? That's what I would hope for...

I tend to do pretty good during the days, except I feel a bit pulse-y and high blood pressure-y occasionally. It's the nights which suck for me. I don't have much hope at the moment, because I am now back on the same combination of stuff I was on for 7 weeks previously - and I continued to wake up early throbbing/pulsing for those 7 weeks. So, whilst I've only been back on 50 for 2 days, I don't have a reason to hope that anything different will happen now! I am soooo reluctant to drop back further to 37.5 seeing my estrogen was only 233nmol on 50 last time, but if that's what I have to do, I will.
