However: during WWs I/II men were away at The Front - leaving women to wash, clean, care for the kids etc.; I think because they lived closer to relatives that kids had a get away opportunity of running to Granny or Aunty rather than in2 Gang Culture?  So we can't entirely blame a lack of role models.

Bruno and Craig on a car journey around the UK begins on Wednesday. Don't know when it was filmed as Bruno has been stuck Stateside for about a year.  Could be a relief from all that's been happening .........

Has anyone watched Time with Sean Bean? I watched it all on iPlayer. It's one of.the best things I've ever watched, totally compelling and brilliantly acted, especially by Sean Bean. I'm going to watch it again!

I'm very interested in psychology and sociology, and already knew that most of the inmates are people from very troubled backgrounds, and most have quite severe/severe psychological problems (hate the term mental illness!) I read a few articles about prison after watching it, and they confirmed my thoughts that prison very rarely works as a deterrent, just exacerbates the problems of those incarcerated, and doesn't benefit society. Obviously I'm not saying that murderers, paedophiles and rapists etc shouldn't be locked up, but for many, many criminals it's a revolving door.

It costs approx 30k a year to keep someone inside. 🙄 That money would be much better spent helping prevent crime, such as by preventing the poverty and disadvantage that leads many criminals to take drugs which they turn to crime to fund, though it's obviously much more complex than that. About 8/10 men in prison didn't have a father at home, or good male role model in their lives. I find that a shocking, telling statistic. Overall it really brings it home to you that the inequalities in society need to be urgently tackled. People from "good" backgrounds very rarely turn to crime.

You might like an excellent book by Chris Daws QC.  It's called Justice on Trial, and has just come out in paperback.

Covers the issues you have just mentioned.  Chris Daws is a bit of a compaigner on these issues.

I'm re-watching Broadchurch on Netflix, 1st season....loving it again!  This is my intro to Jody Whitaker and Olivia Coleman, I thought both were really good in this series.   :)

I’ve just finished watching Home Fires. I love programs like that, gives an insight into women’s roles during the 2nd world war.
They finished rather weird, said they wasn’t filming anymore, even tho it was popular. ..shame. ☹️
Think there was three seasons of it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I enjoyed Home Fires too. I read recently that the writer has decided to continue the story in book form as despite the outcry from fans ITV have not recommissioned it.

No show on tonight LM due to the storms. They are going to show highlights from previous series instead.
