SamP muscle twitching can be a symptom of anxiety. Anxiety is a symptom of perimenopause. I too suffer from anxiety and have had odd twitching mainly lower eyelid.
If you are on instagram there are two wonderful people who I’d recommend you follow to learn more about anxiety.

Hi all…
I am new to this forum. I am so grateful to have found you all. I have never suffered such bad anxiety regarding my health before. I basically thing everything is a problem. It is so good to know that I am not alone with this anxiety.

So…I have been on transdermal HRT for 7 months now…really low doses. At 6 months I started getting those all over muscle twitches. I, of course googled it, which sent me into a dark place. I asked my hormone doc and she said she had never heard of muscle twitching due to hormone imbalances…so then I went to an even darker place. I can’t tell you how relieved I was to hear your stories about muscle twitches.

Okay…so…is is HRT the at causes it? Are the doses too much or too low? Has anyone figured out how to get the twitches to seize? Do they eventually go away when you make it through menopause and hormones even out? Or is this just something we live with? I am tempted to get off HRT if it is doing this to my nervous system? Thank you!!!

Hi. I am new to this forum and I am struggling with muscle twitches which randomly started in August, along with so many other symptoms, after reading some of the comments on here, it has put my mind at rest a little bit, I like someone else who commented thought I had MND, I have had so many blood tests which all come back normal, I have had so many symptoms for the past 5 years now, does it ever end?  It’s awful!

Sorry you’re suffering with this horrible symptom Donnaian, rest assured it will eventually pass. Try to keep busy when you’re experiencing it. I would go for a long walk, clean the house, do some gardening, anything to stop my mind wandering into dark places.

Hey everyone. My name is Tammy and I am new here. I have had body wide twitching since July of this year, and I have a localized spot of my calf that never stops twitching. I saw a neurologist who says it’s benign fasciculations. The anxiety that comes with these twitches is like nothing I have ever experienced. I am 37 and my periods for the last year have drastically changed. I have had numerous blood panels done and everything comes back ok.

Did anyone notice any improvement in the muscle twitching by using HRT over time? I am on HRT, 50mg patches [changed from spray 4 weeks ago] and progesterone tablet. Also, taking Gabapentin [4 weeks in] to try and address the twitching.  Not sure if either s working. Please help.

My doctor won’t out me on HRT because he says I am too young. I did join a group on FB called benign fasciculation syndrome. There are thousands of people with body wide muscle twitching. Some said it ended up being Lymes disease but who knows. I had the blood work for it and it was negative. My periods are irregular and these twitches are beyond annoying.

I’m 38 and have been experiencing twitching every day, for about 6 weeks. It’s really getting to me and I keep fearing the worst. Went to the doctor and he did a neurological exam, which he said was normal. Have to go back for bloods next week. I’m also getting aches in random places nearly every day ☹️

Hi All!
I'm new to the forum and so glad to have found you.  I too have muscle twitching which has been quite maddening.  It started in November in my legs and sporadically in other areas.  It seemed to slow down once my doc put me on anti-anxiety meds last November.  I also started HRT in January.  I decided to stop taking the anti-anxiety meds earlier this month because they were causing very aggravating tinnitus.  I notice the twitches now much, much more.  In my legs, feet, hands, shoulder, even nose.  My anxiety is very high and I fear the worst (MND).  I went to the neuro doctor today and she did a physical exam.  She said everything was normal.  She is sending me for bloodwork and an EMG.  I’m trying to stay positive but it’s very hard.  While I don’t like reading others are suffering through this, I’m encouraged that I’m not alone in the madness.
