Isn't this all such fun?!
« on: June 09, 2022, 09:14:53 AM »

Hello all, thank you for this marvellous site. And a HUGE thank you to the folk that administer it. I have been looking at it for many months. This, along with the Newson Health website, have been so helpful.

I am one person who was hit for six by perimenopause symptoms and have been getting myself sorted out for almost 18 months now. Some early signs were there a few years prior but I didn't recognise how impactful this whole event could be! Every woman aged 40 should be alerted! Guess it should have been my mother's job but we don't have much of a personal relationship. Thankfully my daughter and I do, so I will make sure she is well informed in advance.

It has been TOUGH. Won't go into all the details because you can relate.

Anyway, now on HRT (oestrogel and utrogestan) and praying that Besins gets its supply issues sorted. HRT is starting to help but still not feeling like my old self. I get glimpses of her every so often. Husband has been a star, and very patient.  I don't take that for granted.

Will browse around the threads. My current questions concern having to switch to Sandrena if can't get more oestrogel fairly soon, and considering using utrogestan vaginally alternate nights continuously (as advised by specialist). Although still technically peri (tiny wee bleed a few times a year) my bleeds have been ALMOST non-existent for a year (I am 51) and I don't bleed on continuous utrogestan. Also a good option for me because I have had endometriosis in the past. But feel I am getting a wee bit too much progesterone. The continuous regime has got rid of my migraines, thankfully, that were cycle-related. But nervous about alternative nights in case dips etc come back. You know the drill...every change is nerve-wracking!

Anyway, lovely to meet you all and am off to browse some more.  :foryou: Wishing you all a good day wherever you are!

Hi and welcome  :)

You’ll find lots of help and friendly people here.

There should be more stocks of Oestrogel available now. You may have to ring round lots of chemists. x

Hello McPeri and welcome to the forum. I too think all women should be educated on menopause as I had no idea it was happening to me. It is good to hear you and your daughter have a good relationship and you can teach her all about what to expect.  I do not have any advice on the HRT you are on but just wanted to welcome you.  :)

Welcome McPeri. I am the same, had never heard of perimenopause until it was knocking ten bells out of me. Neither had my mum, I think a lot of older generations saw the different symptoms as issues in their own right, or just weren't listened to by GPs when they tried to get help.
Hopefully, the tide the is starting to turn. x

Dotty - thanks. Seem to still be making their way north to Scotland, but am sure we will soon have it back in stock!
