I'm literally at a loss. I've been misdiagnosed (I think) for the last four (plus) years, and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. However, I now believe that it was early menopause. I'm 50 next week, and for the past 4 years they have been swapping my antidepressants round, and nothing as yet has helped. I was prescribed hrt patches, but they didn't stick. I was then prescribed Estrogel which made me angry. I was then prescribed estrolite tablets, which again made me angry. I'm currently waiting for Sandrena gel, but I've just read, that it's basically the same as Estrogel! I'm at a loss as to what to do........ Can you please help or advise me? Here's hoping. Best wishes Sam

Hello Sam and welcome to the forum. I am so sorry to hear of all you have been through. Can I just say, patches do not stick to my skin either but they do if I use a tegaderm dressing over them. They are available from Amazon. It sounds to me like your GP is not knowledgeable about menopause. I think you would do better at a menopause clinic. You can ask for a referral.

I was misdiagnosed for about five years…..was told I’d got CFS / ME. x

So sorry, I know this feeling very well. It’s terribly lonely and incredibly frustrating. While I did actually have what I was diagnosed with, hypothyroidism & some adrenal issues, I was still ill and struggling and clearly perimenopausal. After 5-7 years off and on struggling and the last 3 years especially being awful I went to a private clinic last year and 8 months on HRT I am almost completely well again. Read some posts here, ask more questions, and all the lovely women here will do our best to point you in the right direction. I don’t know if you can afford it, but a private doctor finally looked at everything for me and sorted me out and now my GP gives me my HRT, except the testosterone I still get privately. Do you take testosterone? It can often be the missing piece of the puzzle. What about your thyroid? Ever tested?

ATB did you get a private Dr or meno specialist.
I feel absolutely awful all the time and no end of blood tests come back normal.
I have a pain in my side that is medically undiagnosed, I'm totally exhausted and so low mood wise.
Been given 3 lots of ADs but side effects are awful.
Feel at a loss.

Sorry it’s so awful for you. I went private but others here have been referred to menopause clinics so you could ask your GP. The pain you have should be looked at.

It certainly brings back memories!

When I look back, my Meno experience would be much better if not for ignorance, bad will or just pure (male) ego of those around me!

Similar experimentation of so called professionals nearly run me to the madhouse!

From my experience, all that testing of available on the market hrt can be pretty destabilising. Each specific differs from another, sometimes just by glue, but makes your body react to it, resulting in you having rough time.

None is perfect!!!

You will have better or worst days. It never ever be like it was before!

You will have rougher days simply because at that time deprivation is happening, and no one can predict when or how much.on given day.

Amount of synthetic hormones from hrt is same every day but your body is losing them in varied quantities and combinations, resulting in either having more or less or just right..for a day or two, or week..

So, I'd say, check which hrt is most commonly used by your age group of women, go on it, get used to it, and stay on it.

Best!  :-*
