Hrt gel
« on: April 29, 2022, 12:39:59 PM »

Just an observation, and not sure if it’s my imagination, but I’ve noticed that my symptoms get worse the nearer I get to the end of my HRT gel bottle. Anyone else or just me??🤣

I think that my washing up squeeze liquid is less effective by the end of the bottle ..........  :o even when I give it a good shake.  Co-incidence ?

Hi, I've used estrogel for years I honestly can't say I've noticed any difference when I get to the bottom of the bottle, it really shouldn't make a difference, although I think I may of read it in other posts, the only thing I have noticed which may or may not account for your symptoms feeling worse, is when you do start to get to the bottom of the bottle it seems to give smaller amounts, when I notice that I start a new bottle it may be your not getting the full dose, it does say in the instructions when you notice the pump not returning as quickly when you press, that you should start a new bottle x

Hi AT

I did read those instructions too about discarding when the pump stops returning as quickly but I thought that seemed really wasteful - even before the present shortages!

What I do lizzog is when I notice my bottle pump returning more slowly I open a second bottle. Each day I take my first pump from the emptier bottle then the rest of my pumps from my newer bottle. Thus giving it a whole day for the pump to return to the top and proved another full pump the next day. It's surprising how many more full pumps you get.

I also go buy judgement too, I've gotten. Familiar with how much one pump looks like, so if I see it looks small when near the end of the bottle I just squirt a wee bit extra. Much like CLKD Will do with her Fairy im sure  ;)

Hope this helps

Good idea- when I (eventually) get my next bottle- will give that a go!

When I was on the gel I also noticed this, not as much coming out towards the end and noticing it with symptoms. It’s quite a poor design then because there seemed to be a fair bit left when this was occurring.

Just to chip in that I do the same as Cookie and just alternate to get as much out of the older bottle as possible. I also minimise symptoms risk by just using one pump from the old & the rest from the new one. I do however more often than not discard the first dose from a brand new bottle as it’s not a full measured dose in my experience & I think from memory it says to do so on the instructions but couldn’t swear to it!

Yes I’ve noticed slightly smaller amounts being dispensed towards the end of a bottle and feeling slightly not in the place I am on a new bottle if that makes sense. It is a poor design definitely. I’ve dismantled my bottle and scraped out the last bits and there’s quite a bit left in there.
