I Feel Like Giving Up
« on: April 27, 2022, 09:18:28 PM »

So I have been trying treatments for VA for about 6 weeks, first I had Ovestin but couldn’t get past the stinging, then Estriol cream which kept falling into the toilet on my many night time toilet trips.
Now I have Vagirux but after some un dissolved ones came out I thought I’d try Estriol cream again last night, I smeared it inside with my finger after putting it in hoping it wouldn’t just be like a lump of cream and would  sort of stick to my insides and not fall out down the toilet.
Today I have non stop weeing, between 3pm and 4pm I went 7 times.
I don’t know if this is something that has been ‘brewing’ or a coincidence.
I had a swab done on Monday as I thought I had thrush but after taking the oral tablet last Thursday or Friday whatever it is was still there.
Results not back yet but seeing my doctor on Friday and really want to say ‘I give up, take me off it all as nothing works after 6 weeks’
Should I expect some improvement after 6 weeks or is it too soon?

I would say 6 weeks is too soon to give up on VA treatment, as it can take months to get under control, and one does need to treat this for life. Keep going, you will get there eventually  :)

It is easy to 'blame' medication for not working, sometimes as suggested, it can take longer than we would like to get issues under control.

Little and often.  MayB insert mid-afternoon (if possible) and again in the evening.  How 'strong' is the product you R using?  Is it the packaging that your vagina rejects, which is normal as the vagina cleanses itself.  I would add a pain relief medication regularly to ease further discomfort.

Some ladies find 'yes' or 'sylc' products around the outer vaginal area helps.

We have stressed time and time again to you in all your other threads on the subject that it can take months for VA treatment to work and probably the worst thing you can do is to keep changing your regime. You need to get into a routine choosing the treatment you feel comfortable with, and wait! There is no quick fix to this, after a few months, or less, you will soon see whether your treatment is going to work.

You won’t get any better advice than on this forum because you are dealing with women on here who are going through and have gone through exactly the same journey as you, but its up to you whether you want to take the advice or not.

I am afraid you are in this for the long haul and accepting your condition as the new normal will help calm your anxiety. Keep up with the treatment and let us know when you start to feel the benefits, it will help others reading your story.  :)

Thankyou for your replies. I had read somewhere that improvements can be felt in a month and was hoping for that.
I have ordered Yes vm  moisturiser ( I had the lube but thought the moisturiser would be better for dryness) after dithering for ages on which to get, after it was suggested so will start on that as soon as it pops through my letterbox , and am going to continue the Vagirux.
The Ovestin stung like mad, the Estriol cream doesn’t stay in, and Vagirux sometimes falls out un dissolved so I do worry about what’s next. Plus I get thrush if I so much as look at a perfumed shower gel (of course that is not what happens but I get thrush a lot, anything different up there sets it off ) so don’t want to keep trying different things but will stick with Vagirux and a bit of moisturiser as suggested.
Edited to add- I have put a Vagirux in and will do so again tonight.

Just had the results of the swab, I have vaginal thrush and doc has a prescription for me. Maybe that’s why the soreness and weeing is so bad.

Haven’t you just taken thrush medication though pixie? Or is this a stronger type of medication from the Gp? 7 times in an hour? That’s pure hell! Do you wee properly each time??

I did take an over the counter thrush tablet a week ago.
The tablets from the gp are Itraconazole, never heard of that, one twice a day for 2 days.
I either do little wees or ‘full’ wees but never feel like my bladder is empty.
A few years ago the gynaecologist said to rock back and forwards on the loo to empty the bladder but even doing this I don’t feel empty.
