Oooooooooooh, whispering a very tentative response and hoping I don't jinx myself. I've been on Testogel for about ten weeks now, the pea-sized blob for ten days per sachet. I still have some left each time. I would say this past week, maybe two, some positive signs are creeping in. Libido etc was not my priority, though nice to say hello to it again, but my NHS specialist agreed that I was needing help with stamina, cognitive function, maladaptive stress response, motivation and confidence. These are all creeping back (ssssssshhhhhhhh!) and I just feel a greater physiological "brightness" if that makes sense. It's miniscule, but all relative for a near 70 year old with M.E., but I am encouraged! 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

I’ve been on Androfemme since November and noticed the most difference once that was added. I was a very active person before and had been struggling for years to get to the same level and now I’m exercising like my old self, even on more tired days or during my period, nothing stops that so that’s a big difference. I can concentrate better, my motivation and confidence also improved and yes libido although that wasn’t my biggest symptom. It’s harder to say but I feel I can build muscle better too.

Thanks ladies

That's very interesting, and good news for you both!!!

I was given a combined Testosterone (1mg) and DHEA cream. I upped to 2mg Testosterone. After 8 weeks I stopped it as I wasn't feeling right, but I was benefitting from feeling incredibly calm and happy.

I've just retested and my DHEA is actually high! (it was a good 8 weeks ago I stopped). So I doubt I'll touch DHEA again. So that leads me to wonder if Testosterone alone might be good for me.  I wonder whether it was that which left me feeling calm and happy. Right now I'm very aggitated.

Thanks for replying. X

Yes, calm and happy here.
That's the most over-riding outcome.
Standalone testosterone is radical and currently at the forefront of investigations as I understand it.
Very curious here, too!

Oh ok, then yes maybe it’s the combo that wasn’t great? I use Androfemme, are you able to afford that one? It’s the one specifically for women.

Oh lovely. I'm really hopeful now. Calm and happy I was liking... Everything else was horrible.

Everything else is still very bad in my hormonal situ... But I'm not now calm and happy!!!!

I got mine from my bhrt clinic. I'll probably ask for the same cream, minus the DHEA! It's very low dose 1mg. I was up to 2mg, so suppose I could ask for that. It's expensive. But I need solutions. I'll look at androfemme too.

Thanks gals x

I use Androfemme 0.5ml a day. My ADI is 1.9, much better than before but I could up testosterone if needed although I’m keeping it as it is for now. Other than anxiety I only have some tiredness some days. I think I’m 80% of what I used to be. Which is marvellous! I haven’t felt this good since, well at least 7 years! I think my doctor said my testosterone dose is the most common.

That's amazing!!! And your results are down to the Testosterone??? After 7 years of no Testosterone supplementation I'm guessing???

But you still get some anxiety??

Sorry, what's ABI?

Are you on other hrt too??? But Testosterone was the key????

Sorry, I should have said I'm now at 2.4. NHS specialist says this "sits nicely in the mid-range". I always question ranges a wee bit, a good rough base maybe, especially very postmeno, but the symptom changes say it all at the moment! 🤞

ADI is your ‘free testosterone’ which is the important bit.

I also take esteogen via patches and Utrogestan. I felt much better after I added testosterone at 8 weeks, although all of it will help. With regards to energy and my body feeling like myself and looking like myself again, testosterone seemed to make the most difference to me.

Ah OK. So my free test is 0.64. So it's on the floor, right??

So do you continue supplementing once at your ideal 'mid range'?

This has been a great help ladies. I'm 45, peri. Had a horrific 4 years. Finally went to a bhrt clinic who identified very low progesterone. My estrogen is normal, but I get awful estrogenic synptoms.

I'm struggling to get on the bioidentical prog though - it gives me anxiety and awful wooziness and nausea. Having to take a super low dose.

Looks like I need to refocus on the Testosterone. I thought it was only there for libido, which is the least of my worries at present.  ;D.

You've been so helpful x

Oh I get it, so understand what you’re saying. I’m just a bit older than you and it sucks!

My doctor said free testosterone should be between 2-5%, so I could be higher myself and may slightly increase my low dose in the months to come depending. You’re low for sure so could do with discussing this with a doctor. Androfemme comes from Australia and is specifically for women.

I’m sorry it hasn’t been easy to find the right HRT for you, but persevere because you deserve to feel your best self.

Testosterone is important for concentration, motivation, energy, muscle building… so much more than just libido!

Grand. I'll just go back to my clinic to get Testosterone without DHEA. I'll keep plodding on with the prog.

It's an awful thing this peri!! Glad you've found something to work x

Thanks love, I also got diagnosed hypothyroid in the midst of all this so it’s been a loooong 6 or 7 years! And I’m on a long wait list I’m guessing, for a neck lump ultrasound atm! She didn’t think it was a thyroid lump so just above it might be less scary but god knows when it will be.
