Is it 'bad' to take a break from HRT?
« on: April 17, 2022, 05:58:44 PM »

I'm trying to decide if I want to stay on HRT. I was on a regime for 3 years, decided to come off it for 18 months, then started another regime 7 months ago.

I'd like to take a few months break. See how I get on.

Is that appropriate?

Which regime were you on for 3 years?
Why did you come off HRT?
No harm in taking a break, it’s whether your body and brain can.

Best of luck x

I have done it a few times. Then got to a point where I knew how my baseline felt, and slowly slowly increased my Estrogel dosage. That’s how I realized how little I really need to feel good.

I was originally on different types of Estrogen (didn't absorb it well, Evorel was best) and Mirena.

I came off it as it just felt like time. And actually, I felt very 'even' when I was off it. But my sleep was awful, so i went back on with Utrogestan/Evorel.

But I've done a CBT sleep course so i feel more in control of sleep. I hate how big my boobs get on Estrogen and I hate the constant hunger on progesterone.

That said, I have osteopenia, I'm post menopausal and I realise the benefits. BUT, I do lots of weight bearing exercise, have good diet. So swings and roundabouts.

I just want to see how things feel, how sleep is, hunger is, without.
