Estriol /Ovestin so fed up, Vagirux?
« on: April 05, 2022, 07:30:31 PM »

So I was put on Ovestin about 4 weeks ago I think, it stings so had Estriol, but most of that ends up in the loo due to getting up in the night for at least 4 wee’s.
I really don’t think there has been any improvement in my VA using either, although my outer labia seem more sort of puffed up.
When my doc gave me the Estriol he said see how I get on as there is a pessary one if I don’t get on with the creams.
I was using the Estriol cream but had thrush, so then I started the Ovestin again but I really cannot cope with the stinging. I am using Tena lights mini when I am at work as I had covid a few weeks ago and have a cough that sometimes I wet myself a bit if I have a coughing fit so don’t feel confident being at work without a pad, plus with the Estriol sometimes it comes out the next day so I’ve been using pads every time I am at work or out of the house, I am not sure if the pads are also irritating me down there.
My friend is using Vagirux and says she has no problems with it, is anyone else using Vagirux and how do you get on with it?
Edited to add—Also I have sort of like period pains today, not a full bleed yet, just like smudges on the pad.

Vagirux or Vagifem estradiol pessaries would be fine (same ingredients but Vagifem has single use applicators, Vagirux comes with a couple of reusable ones). Personally I prefer the pessaries, and just use Ovestin a few times a week on the labia. I'd go for it if I were you! Less faff than inserting the cream.

Vagifem 100%
Its great stuff. I prefer the applicator to the vagirux one too.
Ovestin does zero for my irritated bladder, but vagifem works better I find.

Hi I’d recommend using the pessaries. I use Vagifem and they have definitely helped with my irritable bladder and VA.
I’ve used Ovestin on the outside too to help with itching and that works. Hope it helps you soon.

Definitely vagifem/vagirux.   I also use ovestin externally.  Like you I found it stung unbearably,  so I mix it with some Olive & Bee moisturiser and it is fine then.

Vagifem for internal issues, bladder especially and Ovestin for exteral. After applying Ovestin externally I then apply Bepanthen on top, stops all stinging.. I use 5 Vagifem a week and Ovestin everynight.

Should work just the samr, I've had Estradiol tablets, no particular brand and did the job just the same. Usually the only difference is the applicator or lack of them. Just apply yourself.

I don’t like the look of the applicator, so I will put it in myself.
Still worried it will fall out like the cream does when I go to the loo umpteen times in the night.

It shouldn't it sticks on. If you wet your finger and put in on the tip it sticks to it, just place inside as high as you can .

Thankyou Dierdre, I was wondering how high to put it and how to make sure it stays on my finger when I put it in.
