HRTand now sweat with night heats
« on: April 06, 2022, 11:25:29 AM »

Good morning all I started Oestrogel 2 pumps and 100 mg utrogestan every night on 1st March. I am 60 and 4 years post menopause. Since starting HRT my night heats have become worse and I have started sweating with them, which I never used to do. I've gone up to three pumps, still the same, so today I will be trying 4 pumps to try and get rid of the night heats. My evening heats went within 2 days of starting HRT, so I am somewhat confused. Any ideas on how I should proceed?! As soon as I find the right level, I will start to reduce the pumps to see if I am able to use less. Thank you x

Hi poppy61, I use estrogel on first starting it, I had increased sweats for a few weeks, it eventually settled, it took over 3 months for my body to adjust to hrt, I also found when I increased the dose the same thing happened increased sweating, try not to increase too quickly because too much can also cause hot sweats, when I was on a high dose I started having constant break outs of drenching night sweats, once I lowered the dose it went away, doctors usually say stick with one dose for 3 months then see how you are, its difficult to be patient, but changing doses to quickly won't give you a clear idea of what's working and what's not, good luck hope you find a happy balance with hrt x

Thank you for your quick reply Amazing grace.  I will go back to the two pumps in view of your experience. Did it take 3 months for your night heats to go? They are the thing that have been the most debilitating for me for  7 years, but yes, I shall have to be patient. What's another 3 months after 7, very long years! Thank you again x

The sweats took a while to go away for me, around two months, some women find it goes away much quicker but like I say we are all so different in how we respond to hrt, and I did and still do get the very occasional one but nothing too bad but its been the one symptom that hrt has controlled well for me, it might be that you need 3 to control them, I know it's really difficult when you want things to go away, but try and give it 3 months, then if you don't see an improvement then increase the dose, good luck x
