Hi, I’m new to all of this but here goes. Until May 2021 I hadn’t had a period for 13 months. Suddenly (3 weeks after having my Covid Vaccine, could be a connection) I had a period. I went to the GP who referred me to the local hospital for an ultrasound. The wall of my uterus was 11mm (too thick). A biopsy was arranged ( under anaesthetic as I can’t tolerate the pain of the speculum) and the results were I had endometrial hyperplasia. I was put on progesterone for several months and the following a blood test I had Estrogel. All was well, but I now can’t get the Estrogel so have had patches for a month. I had another biopsy 3 weeks ago and had the Mirena coil fitted. Since then I have bled lightly everyday. Is this normal? I stopped taking progesterone as I believe the coil does the same thing??? I have also stopped the oestrogen patches, as suggested by the gynaecologist. How long should I leave it before getting back in touch with the gynaecologist? I don’t have another appointment until July. The hospital has also lost my biopsy -grrr

Bleeding in the first 6 months of a new conti regime isn't unexpected. The coil should replace the progesterone you were on. I would leave it a little while longer then perhaps restart oestrogen on a low dose at first. What strength patches were you on? As they've lost your biopsy I would ask for another one just to be on the safe side.

I had a letter today to say my biopsy has been found and the sample showed ‘nothing of concern, but the sample was extremely small’. Unbelievable when I was under GA - they had all the time they needed.
The other thing that came to light, but wasn’t mentioned 6 months ago, is that I have a very atrophic uterus. Does this condition warrant a hysterectomy? I am 55 and single, if that makes any difference. When I was married, sex was never comfortable and over the years even putting a tampon became painful. I have read about vaginal atrophy causing painful sex. Could this be a long standing condition?
I was using 50 micrograms/day patches.
