Hi Poppy
I had very low levels of Vit D (15) a couple of years ago and felt extremely tired, weak and unwell.
I am hypothyroid as well so this might have played in (it’s a common thing with hypo to have low vits).
I was given a prescription for loading doses over 7 weeks- one tablet a week of 30000 units. I know use vit D mouth spray with K2 ( that helps with absorption) as a maintenance dose about 3000 alternate days and get my vit tested via medichecks with a private blood draw (costs £30 extra and I just pop to the local private hospital for this as a walk in) you can just do your own finger prick bloods.
As im always checking my thyroid levels I get the vit D at the same time. But it’s recommended you test 2 times per year if you’ve been low.
Has your GP tested your vit D?
How are you feeling?
I felt so much better once I’d had these loading doses it made a huge difference.

For me and my Mum even though we had spent the Summer in the sunshine: very tired - I would do 20 mins weeding then sit.  Absolutely still.  For 2 hours after.  GP prescribed capsules on the result of blood tests.

Hi shoppingqueen, yes I had my bloods taken which has revealed my vitamin d is low, I have an appointment with gp on Tuesday. I have been off work for 9 months with symptoms of,  crippling fatigue, off balance/lightheaded, achy joints & muscles, anxiety , depression, not been able to see a simple task through without becoming exhausted, headaches etc. My gp said I was suffering from depression & I was issued antidepressants but after 9 months of just getting worse & now dreading waking up each morning feeling the same all day I desperately asked bloods to  be taken ( I know it sounds silly but hoped it showed something up to be wrong with me). So fingers crossed come Tuesday I should know what medication is going to be given to start my recovery, then I can get back to work 🤞

Hi CLKD, when I became ill last June with this it was summer so being off work I had time to sit in the garden (as couldn’t do much else ) in the sun but can’t say that the rays from the sun was any benefit for me either x

Hi Poppy
I’m so sorry you are feeling so poorly- I also can’t believe you’ve had to ASK to have bloods done bearing in mind you’ve been off work and poorly for 9 months.
Was there anything that triggered the illness or did it develop over time?
Did you get thyroid bloods checked by your GP? Just a thought.
I know that feeling about hoping something comes up on tests as you will be worrying and wondering what’s causing this. You just want answers.
Hopefully your GP has done a full range of bloods??
When you get your appointment, might be worth asking if B12, iron, ferritin etc also checked.

Ps meant to say I’ve been off sick for 4 months with thyroid related illness and I know that feeling of getting up and dreading having to get through another day without improvement in symptoms. And being desperate to get well and back to work. I feel this also xx I’ll keep fingers crossed your GP gets to the bottom of it and you get loading doses to bring you back up x
