night time weeing...
« on: March 04, 2022, 08:05:08 AM »

dont know if I am waking up more because I need to wee, or needing to wee because I am waking up more...... but the lack of uninterrupted sleep for the last 3 weeks is destroying me.
I dont eat or drink anyhting after 7pm , or drink caffeine at all.
I have been waking at 1, 3, 5 am & producing a reasonable amount of wee! ( sorry if tmi)
i ahve been on hrt for 4 months....25 patch & 100 ustrogen. the higher patch made me feel really rough. the ustrogen initially made me sleep loads better.
any suggestions please what to ask the Dr for before I loose my mind? thanks

U aren't drinking enough.  If you deprive your kidneys they will work harder = more getting up in the night.

I remember this as being the first indication of the beginning of Vaginal Atrophy for me, could it be the same for you?
Its also how I know a flare up is about to happen, waking up about three times in the night to pee.

It is awful having to wake up so many times. I wonder if trying estrogen cream would help? I would try vagifem or ovestin cream as going to the bathroom throughout the night could be a sign of vaginal atrophy.

I recently upped my estrogen from 100 to 137 or thereabouts with Evorel patches and that has virtually stopped the night awakening.

That is amazing. Did you get this prescribed with a menopause DR? My rubbish GPs would never agree to that.

I would personally try vaginal atrophy treatment. Constant weeing is a symptom of it. I use ovestin cream myself.

You could be low in sodium. Try taking 1/2 teaspoon sea salt in warm water before bed

I agree with Flossieteacake, think more vaginal atrophy and the only thing that will help is the appropriate treatment for it, to be used topically.
I also use Ovestin, cbd oil wont help, you need to replace the oestrogen that your body is losing.
That is of course if that is what you are suffering from but no harm in trying the treatments yourself.

I agree this is probably a va symptom, I started with wanting to wee at night alot never thought it was a hormone issue, I drink loads of water and doesn't seem to make any difference I can be OK through the day, but guaranteed I start the need to wee once I get in bed, the more I try to ignore it the more intense it gets, if it is hormone related upping your patch or trying vaginal estrogen will help.

This happened to me for a while before the dreaded VA took its toll. Now on vaginal estriol and I never get up for a wee in the night so perhaps worth a try to see if it helps you xx
