Is This Normal

Hi all,
I started a new regime of Utro and Oestrogel 2 pumps over a week ago.
Please could you lovely ladies tell me if the symptoms I am having are expected in the early days or should I go back to GP and ask for something different.
I have had internal tremors, fatigue , aches in my knees constantly and needing to wee more and it is keeping me awake as bladder bursting in early hours, but the worst thing for me is the itching .
I came up in red itchy spots on my foot. My scalp is so dry and it hurts. My skin overall looks like any moisture that was in it has disappeared, my hands look like they have aged 20 years. My finger nails have gone brittle and have ridges on them which were not there before. Also my gums are bleeding. I have been on leave this week which is a good thing because the lovely brain fog is there with a vengeance! There I think that is about it😩
I was on Evorel patches for 2 years but the GP thought I was not absorbing so recommended I change to the gel and utrogestan but I am not sure if I really should be carrying on with it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. X

Hi all of those symptoms would be due to low oestrogen for me.
What strength patches were you on ?

As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry: inside and out; skin, scalp, deep in the ears, eyes, nostrils, vagina ...........
I have ridges on my nails, a sign of ageing. Apparently

Yep CLKD. All those areas are drier than usual. My nose feels like it’s being pinched . This is pants!

Could be low B12. Maybe get a full spectrum blood test? Medichecks do a Well Woman test that covers b12, iron, haemoglobin, vit d, thyroid, oestrogen.
I had extreme fatigue and hair loss on hrt, the above test revealed low B12, low vitamin d and low haemoglobin. Am recovering now but it's taken months. Hope you get to the bottom of it 🍀

Hi Marchlove
I am on 100mg Utro taken orally and every night.
CherryG. I have had through my
GP thyroid and B12 blood tests. All okay. I am taking Vit D spray .
I have had crying spells all day and have shouted at my husband in frustration which I have not done for years, it is like it is all coming out. I do not like it and hope it passes soon.
My scalp is so dry when I brush it hurts and skin is flaking off. I have never had this before either. X

Most of the symptoms you describe I had on the Utro. Itching was really bad with red spots across my abdomen, fatigue and nighttime wee issues.
You could try taking it every other night, but that might not work for you with the bleeds issue.
I came to the conclusion that either it was too high a dose for me and/or I was allergic to the fillers.
Either way I couldn’t handle it.
Even now with my new progesterone I have to take it earlier in the evening 7pm so that I get the wee out of me by bedtime!
I think you might have to change back to your patch or try something else? x

Hi Marchlove
Thank You, I think you may be right about the Utro , maybe both are causing the symptoms. I had a terrible night last night, night sweats, aches and this toothache which seems to come and go since I have been on them.
I feel so tired and as usual not with it to get on with the day like I used to. Luckily no work today but I am dreading next week when I go back. I will probably see if I can speak to GP and see what else I can try. As I said I had no side effects with patches but for some reason they just seemed to have stopped doing their thing.
Can I ask what regime you are on please?
Thanks QOR. XX

Yes I got the toothache, it was all the Utro for me I know.
I had to go private in the end and get compounded though I think the oestrogel might have worked for me as long as I had a different progesterone. I don’t know though as I didn’t try it.
Hope you get it sorted x

I think you need more oestrogen. You are still on a pretty low dose. A lot of us are on 4 even 5 pumps of oestrogen. All of those things happened to me after my hysterectomy and oophorectomy, even though I was already on 3 pumps of oestrogel. Once I went up to 5 pumps all the dryness resolved itself.

Thanks Gnatty
I managed to speak to the GP and been told to stop as I was feeling very low and having stabbing pains in my chest amongst other symptoms. Today is the first day with no HRT, I feel a lot better already but I know that will not last, so giving myself a little break then try again on higher dose patches. It is trail and error. I am pushing to see a menopause specialist too. X
