Does Dr Currie still have their nhs meno practice and, if so, can people from outside the area be referred to them?

It is unlcear from the BMA find a specialist whether the clinic is still running? It doesn't come up in a search as far as I can make out but if you type in Dr Currie's name then you get the Dumfries Menopause Service but the website link doesn't work any more and if you go to the hospital website (D and G Royal Infirmary) - there are no menopause services listed.

That being the case I would definitely ask Emma because the BMS data that MM links to sounds like it's out of date and since Dr C is founder and manager of this website, it would be good at least for her information to be updated!

I think that's great advice so far. When I was in contact with Dr. Currie last year I'm pretty sure what was available was only for those in the catchment area. It seems to be true of most compartmentalisation. Have you a specialist clinic in your own area?

Just to confirm, we still have a very active menopause service in Dumfries and Galloway. The BMS Find a Specialist information is correct. We do have a new public NHS website which is where the confusion may have come from, and it does not yet include information about all our services. We now have a specialist menopause service in almost every Health Board in Scotland, so most women who need specialist input in Scotland should be able to be supported in their own areas.
We do receive some referrals from outwith the region but this has to be agreed locally by the referring area.

Thank you so much for your response, very much appreciated. I am in England but the only bms nhs specialist in my area does not prescribe or agree with the nice guidelines so I'm unsure where else to turn as still symptomatic. I sadly presume that, as I am not only outside of your region but in a different country, I may not be able to be referred. Will certainly try.
