Hi all, I am post menopause, I am 51 and last period was 2017. Everything was fine leading up to last period..no hot flushes etc. But since December 2021 I have been suffering from severe anxiety and panic episodes.  Gp hasn't said definitively that its menopause related and I thought that it couldn't be as its been so long since last period.
How can one know if these symptoms are just anxiety or if its menopause related?
How can one decide on hrt or not based on the symptoms?
Has anyone had acupuncture with success?
Any supplements? Zenflore?
Any advice or experience greatly appreciated 🙏

Hi if you have never suffered with anxiety before, then it’s likely to be caused by falling hormone levels and hrt should help x

Hi,like Dotty says, oestrogen levels will keep subsiding despite how many years post meno you are,I'm 58 and still suddenly get anxiety or panic attacks, adrenaline surges also cause anxiety,if you ever feel like you have butterflies in your tum for no reason that can be adrenaline

Hello Hannah and welcome to the forum.

I was post meno by three years when my anxiety episodes began. Every day I would get a vibrating sensation in my abdomen which lasted until  the evening. One lady here said it felt as if she had swallowed a large mobile phone that was stuck on vibrate. I assumed it was hormone related and my trusty meno book confirmed this.
After six months of this torment I asked my GP for HRT and after two weeks the worst of the feeling subsided.

I am still  trying to find the perfect HRT  regime but you may be lucky first time if you choose to give it a try.

Take care and let us know how you get on.

K.

I had the same experience as Kathleen,  post memo, with the vibration which brought on health anxiety big time. I haven’t gone down the HRT route, but try to manage it myself with the aid of this wonderful forum.

Thank you all for your replies.  Its so strange because one would assume that symptoms like that wouldn't occur at this stage seeing that there weren't symptoms in the initial year or two.
