Because they are likely to make a newly built house far too hot  .  Never mind that new builds by Law should have heat source pumps in the garden etc..  All run of course, by electricity which causes it's own problems when it doesn't work

It's on new properties apparently.  Probably because England is bowing to mainland Europe over certain 'global warming' issues? 

I think that they should be thinking more about Russia on the Ukraine border than worrying about conservatories!

We are in the process of buying a new build.  No  heat pump.  I don't know when legislation,if any, kicks in but it's not yet.

These Building Regs keep being put back, in the main because local Councils don't have the monies to fight the big companies who don't put heat pumps etc. in place.  It's been Law in Europe since the 1990s along with solar panels etc..  Even if Plans are passed with current regs and the big companies don't comply, LAs simply let it go in the main.  Also, big companies sign off their own works - because LAs don't have man power, time or monies to make sure that there isn't any snagging to be done once the properties are built.

Thought we’d left the EU? I’m not a fan of that decision but surely we don’t have to bow down to more ill thought out legislation. Is this some sort of ‘Grandfathering’ regime?

Yes, the new legislation is ours and designed to reduce the effects of climate change.  Whether it will or not is anybody's guess. 

Nothing is set in stone and who knows what a new government will do.  Way things are going, it might not be too long.😂🤣😂

When it comes to ill thought out legislation we seem to be outdoing the EU. Maybe they'll start importing our hair brained ideas

So, what was the point in leaving then??

Anyway, just done some checking.  It's not a ban at all.  It's a change in building regulations re window size etc, to prevent excessive heat build up.

I wonder who decided that conservatories will increase the over all heat in a property  . 

We left the EU for lots of reasons but the UK Government now has to discuss which Laws made over the last 30+ years should remain as to benefit us and which are worth ditching.  Then take those decisions to Europe.  More cost, more time spent 

Some Laws of course are of benefit, i.e. Health and Safety.  Corporate Man-slautgher charges ..........

Omg this country just gets worse and worse,what will they ban next? Greenhouses? Until countries like Russia and China rein it in,I doubt very much if our tiny little country will save the world from climate change.....rant over,thank you  My OH refurbishes conservatories and most people opt for the blu argon glass,it deflects the suns rays but keeps the room at a nice temperature

There is also glass that 1 can see out of but people can't see into the rooms
