What do you need a mask for? There is no covid, just ask Boris  >:(.
Those who are jabbed will be OK, those who haven't may die but it's their own fault and the old or vulnerable don't matter anyway.
But of course everyone will act responsibly  ;D. I think we've seen on this thread how much care some people take with someone else's health. If a mask protected you it wouldn't matter but we all know they protect other people from you but do precious little to protect you from a maskless infected person.

Much earlier on it was said that viruses enter via the eyes too  :-\

1 person interviewed on the TV last night was complaining that she felt vulnerable but she hadn't been outside her house for over 18 months ........ it didn't look as though she had the capacity to go far.  Why do the media find people who aren't going outside anyway?

PF - I'm like U.  I have sharp elbows at times ;-)

Over 90% of people in UK have been fully vaccinated Sheila.  This latest version seems to be so mild that it’s no worse than a sniffle and we are no longer hearing about terrible cases of covid like we did at the outset.

I have no qualms at all about going out shopping, dining etc without wearing a mask and I do make sure I get plenty of fresh air every day and I never visit places that are packed with people as I don’t like such places anyway.  I have always been scrupulous about handwashing etc as that is how I was brought up.

I don’t see the logic in wearing masks in cars and shops and then going for lunch or a coffee or in my case to an exercise class or gym and removing your mask.  What about church services, weddings and christenings etc?  Are people declining invitations because people are not wearing masks?

It is up to the individual whether they wear a mask or not but it does look as though some people are so terrified that they will have to have their masks surgically removed.😉

Hello again ladies.

I was due to go out to lunch today but I will give it a miss because I have a cold and a sore throat. My LFT test just came back negative but that may be a false reading. I certainly have a rotten cold and I don't want to be coughing and sneezing at the table and putting other people at risk, especially as one of the diners has lung problems!

I understand that viral load is an important factor so being close to someone and coughing and sneezing near them puts them at more risk than meeting them outside or in a large and airy venue. Dr John Campbell talks about this plus the need for good ventilation.

All we can do is make sensible decisions and have compassion for ourselves and others. It would be great to think that COVID can actually bring out the best in us!

Take care ladies.

One has been allowed to remove a mask for eating.  See above as to why I continue to wear mine.

As for colds: because the body hasn't had an immune 'kick' from bugs, it will react harder .  All my friends have felt rotten with a cold in recent months, those that were touched by Covid said that the cold has been worse  :o

I'm off to Costco for a Very Big Shop - will be wearing my mask and hat .  My hair needs washing  ;D

The point is that mask wearing, testing etc., were always going to end and some point.  I think it's a shame some people are frightened by this but there is nothing to be done about it.

For people who have found mask wearing difficult or impossible, they they have had to endure it for a long time, not to mention the other restrictions.

Some people find security in wearing a mask but they can continue to do so.  As for protecting the vulnerable, they have always been at a certain risk from respiratory and other viruses.  I don't think we should be expected to wear masks forever for a risk that has always been there.

I agree with everything you say PF, omicron isn’t as deadly as previous variants. What if flu is circulating next winter, do we all go back to restrictions  :-\

Well that says it all really.

It hasn't gone away, it's still killing over 100 people a day. Would you be so blasé about it if you knew it was you that gave it to them? I guess we're all different but I'd find it hard to live with the guilt.

I hope attitudes will have changed by the time you're old or vulnerable.

Quite right Kathleen.  Sensible people have always tried not to spread their germs prior to covid. I remember being really cross when people I worked with came in coughing and sneezing all over everybody.

1.  Where are you getting that figure from Sheila?

2.  I believe I fall into the “old” category. 🤣🤣

3.  I know 30+ people personally who have had covid and thankfully nobody has died or been seriously ill.  How many people die every day in the UK from other causes?  Many, many thousands more.  At the tail end of last year I lost my SIL and then 3 very close friends all to cancer.

4.   The way I look at it is I am fully vaccinated, I have followed all the guidelines including wearing masks but now we no longer have to I am getting on with my life without one and I certainly wouldn’t even entertain the idea of feeling any guilt. If I have any symptoms at all I will stay home just like I would with any other illness.

I would never feel guilty about passing on germs, I probably have over the years.

In COSTCO this morning, about half were wearing masks.  Home now, everything unloaded into the various cupboards.

Of course, 'elderly' has no legal status, it really depends on what someone is trying to sell  ::).  I was elderly according to SAGA and various insurance companies - I was 50  >:(  ::)

I KNOW I would feel horrific guilt if I infected someone with Covid and they died.

I’m still wearing a mask but if the cases continue to fall I will stop in a few weeks, by then the cases might be extremely low.  (With a bit of luck).
Booking a holiday abroad too.  :o   Getting very brave.

U GO GIRL  :ola:

I wouldn't feel guilty as I probably wouldn't know whether I have infected anyone.
