Progesterone problems
« on: November 23, 2021, 07:18:08 PM »

Hi, I have just started taking HRT, while it is an absolute game changer and I wouldn't go back as the benefits far outweigh the negatives, one thing I struggle with is how drowsy progesterone tablets make me.
I was taking one capsule orally around 9.30-10pm and found it made me feel immediately punch drunk and I still felt drowsy when I woke up. Taking it vaginally was a little better, but made me so bloated.
However, I should actually be taking two capsules. So, I wondered if anyone has had the same side effect and, if so, have you found a way to counter it? Thanks so much.

Is it utrogeston? Drowsiness seems to be a common problem. I haven't found a magic cure but I use it sequentially on a long cycle (6weeks) so I have more time without it. According to newsonhealth you can halve the dose if you use it vaginally. If you can't tolerate it you could try a mirena or provera.
