D-Mannose

Anyone had experience with this product for treating UTI's. It gets wonderful reviews as an alternative to antibiotics in treating and preventing infections.
I've ordered some today in the hope it works in cleansing the bladder, fingers and everything else crossed  ::)

Personally, I've found it invaluable both for treating utis and as a means to keep things healthy in a maintenance sort of way. Do be aware, though, that VA symptoms can mimic utis, that dip-testing is not always accurate (lab culture preferable) and how important it is to get things checked out. Uva-Ursi is another good treatment of utis if caught early enough and if that is definitely what you have. Hope this helps! 😊

I had a sample sent to the lab in May when I first started to get bladder problems, came back no infection but got antibiotics anyway which cleared up the burning very quickly. Now on Vagifem every day and hoping it will make things better in the future.

Trying to differentiate between VA and UTI's is a minefield but I suppose you get to know the difference with experience as this is all new to me.

Yup! Antibiotics can be harmful, too, so do ensure that's what's needed. They mess with the "flora". No infection should perhaps have meant no need for them, but, if they helped as a one-off, maybe ok. "Burning" kind of suggests VA, but your Vagifem will help with that. Are you on the loading dose, given every day, or been prescribed daily as that's a lot otherwise? 😊

What does loading dose mean? I have started this week using the pessary every day. Twice a week was not sufficient and doctor, without hesitation told me that it's such a low dose to use every day!

I think most people start out with a loading dose of two weeks of everyday use, then dropping and adjusting accordingly? Others will be along, too, with their thoughts.

I've found D Mannose helpful.

Also there's a product from A.Vogel called Uva-Ursi and Echinacea cystitis drops which you can get in health shops and on Amazon etc. That's helped me too if I catch it really early.

For some reason I never respond  to Nitrofurantoin. Trimethroprim works much better for me when I really can't clear an UTI. I'm trying to use homeopathy too and nipped a UTI in the bud with a remedy this week but if that didn't work, I was going to call my surgery.

I'm using VA treatment too. For me getting a bit dehydrated on caffeine can be a trigger and alcohol too although sadly that is a bit of a distant memory these days!

There was a time when I wouldn't even take paracetamol but how times have changed! I'm ok with Nitrofurantoin as long as I take it with food but will see how I get on with D-Mannose and hope it works.

Thanks for all the suggestions both, I will keep a note!  :)
