I won't be surprised if we go into a lockdown after Christmas, but there hasn't been any talk of that...yet. It's a wait and see approach here.

I don't know of anyone who has had the flu or a cold in the last year.  The masks and the hand hygiene has limited those illnesses.

A few weeks ago it was reported in the UK Press that the 'current cold' is really bad.  Probably because we haven't the same immunity?  There's certainly a shortage of kleenex!

Apparently Scotland has recorded 5,000 less positives in the last 24 hours :-))).  Bet that doesn't make the national headlines! *

Tennis player Novak Djokovic is set to play in the Australian Open, after being exempted from vaccination rules.

All players and staff at the tournament must be vaccinated or have an exemption granted by an expert independent panel.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said if the player's evidence was insufficient he would be on the "next plane home".
hopefully, on his way out as quickly as he landed ?

He was quite prepared not to go, it's the Australians that changed their minds.

He's sticking by his principles but not so the Australians.

He was prepared not to go all the while he was banned from entry, then they changed their minds so he went.  Now they are not sure again.

If they send him home they should pay for his flight.  It's not his fault they can't make their minds up.  Crazy.

He should pay his own fare.  He knew that he was unlikely to be allowed into Australia even if the Tennis Association changed their minds, he simply won't give his vaccination status to the organisers which he is required to do B4 being allowed to compete.  This Rule hasn't altered across the World since Covid began.

We are going to have to disagree on this.

He was told he could go and issued with a visa.  If they make a rule they should stick to it.  It's like the Christmas party mess all over again.

it appears Flurona is a thing. Can't remember where I saw it now but they are saying people are getting both covid and the flu at the same time, aka Flurona. Can't even begin to imagine how horrible that could be  :(

That's going to be very rare.  It would mean catching the two viruses at the same time.

Fortunately, because they are from different virus families, they cannot combine.

I think Djokovic was wrongly advised. It seems Victoria allows in those who are unvaccinated but have recently had covid. The national government says everyone should be vaccinated and their view overrides state rules. I don't think they can apply the law to Joe public but not to the rich and famous. And I'm sure he is better able to pay his air fare than the Australian public who would otherwise foot the bill. Court case tomorrow so we'll see who wins.

?? Your guess might be sheila ?? - bet you a new born lamb against a heat lamp?  He also had the bread test to ascertain allergies - holding a slice of bread in his left hand and putting his right arm out, the therapist pushed down his right arm and told him that he was gluten intolerant  ::).  Regardless of his beliefs, he is entering a country with rules.  If in Rome etc.?  No one should be exempt from the Rules of the State/Country they wish to enter.

I wonder how true 'flurona' might be?  I've had the snuffles for 2 days - could be an allergy as I haven't run the shark around (and B4 anyone phones the RSPCA, he's quite a happy shark) ; sudden warm then cold weather; a cold.  I can't understand how, if we are wearing masks, anyone catches anything at all!
