Messed patch sequence up?
« on: September 24, 2021, 10:25:01 AM »

Hi everyone

I posted recently asking what people thought about my symptoms.  It seemed like a return of a lot of 'hormonal' symptoms from 2 years ago, before I started HRT.

I've now looked at the calendar, and while I'm not 100% sure, I'm pretty sure that I took an extra combined estradiol/progesterone patch when I should have switched to estradiol only.  So, I would have been another 4 - 5 days without oestrogen when my body would have expected it.

And now, I'm supposed to be back on the combined patch............but because of the mix up, I'm on my 4th and last estradiol patch today.

What would you do?  Switch back to the combined?  Or stick with the new routine?  If I stick with the new routine, I will be on combined on Sunday night ........

Thanks for any thoughts  :)

but I feel really tired today and wondering whether I should be changing it.  I get a lot of energy on the combined patch, but I wouldn't change it for that reason, just wondering if I should and get the cycle back to what it was...... oh dear  ::)

Whichever patch you use you should still change it at the same time. If you leave the existing one for an extra 3/4 days you'll get very little from it and that will mess things up further. I think I'd use one less conti patch this cycle and see what happens. If you're own cycle gets out step with the hrt one then you can try and sort it out when you have a new supply of patches.

Thanks Sheila99

I never really know what people mean by the conti patch?  sorry........I know them as the estradiol only patch and the combined patch....I'm not really leaving anything on longer as I have just started my 4th estradiol patch and will then move to the combined patch on Sunday........but somehow I'm a week late.  Somewhere a week or so ago I continued with combined patch for a week longer than I should have, making me late for estradiol, and hence now on my 4th estradiol when I would normally be changing to combined......  I'm complicating things  ;D

At the moment I feel ok, so thinking I should just change to combined on Sunday...... :-\

Or are you thinking it would be better to go onto the combined now and not worry that I've not had much of the estradiol....?

Thanks for your thoughts

There's estradiol in both of them so you won't be short of it. Conti and combined are the same - evorel call the combined patch conti. I would do as you suggest. The only problem may be the bleed. If you have a strong 4 week cycle of your own you may find it's now out of step with the hrt cycle so you may bleed when you don't expect it.
