Lightheaded
« on: July 23, 2021, 03:04:34 PM »

Hello ladies :)
Good afternoon and this very hot day

Just wondering if anyone else gets this
I always seem like lightheaded and off balance .. it’s one thing that sets off my aniexty as I feel like I’m gonna pass out sometimes but I never have thankfully

It’s like a head rush feeling
It’s strange .. it always feels like pressure in my back of head but not always pain so not quite an headache
Before I started HRT my blood work was all checked and came back all ok .. whatever ok means & had a CT scan in April which was clear

I’m on Everol 50 patch & I still gets hot sweats but not so intense
I was thinking of adding half a patch to see if that helps but don’t wanna be feeling worse
Although in fairness apart from the first week when I started almost 4 months ago that was only time I felt good in myself
I’ve never felt better since to be honest… my symptoms are still aniexty , palpitations, digestive problems , and this damn lightheaded feeling every day .. I had to give up work because of it as each day was like I was off balance only way I can describe it is a head rush feeling
Not dizzy the room isn’t spinning
but lightheaded where I feel unsteady

Just wondering if anyone else gets it ??
Sometimes I think HRT as made my aniexty worse as before it was only before period and maybe sometimes around ovulation but now it’s constant

Yep.  It's part of my Life, has been for over 25 years.  Also, I go to put my feet down sometimes and my thighs don't allow me to walk where I intended.   >:(.  Note to self .........

I also have a nerve in the back of my neck which makes me feel, very briefly, woozy.  As you describe. Have U had a recent cevical spine X-ray?  When did U last have an eye test?

Keep hydrated in this weather .........

Thanks for reply CLKD

I have not long recently had an eye test in June and payed for a scan behind eye and all was good.
They ain’t done anything they just put it down to aniexty all the time.
It’s getting to much each day from no where it’s just there .. I’ve literally had enough I’ve just messaged GP again they must be sick of me but I can’t carry on like this
Just about to sit down & eat with husband and had to come and lay down it’s so annoying that’s it’s interfering with everything ..
Let’s hope doc comes back and helps as sick of them saying everything is aniexty

I stopped drinking coffee months Bach and started drinking more water and that ain’t helped nothing as
Surely it can’t be hormones doing this for as bad as it is
Sorry to rant but I’ve had enough & feel like ripping this patch off thinking these make everything worse.

How's your blood pressure?

My problem is often not having my lap top at the correct angle ......... DH keeps reminding me.  Posture is important, it can cause woozy feelings in the neck, head and stomach.  Any ear problems?

It can raise anxiety levels which becomes a cycle.  If you feel woozy, sit still.  Put your hands into your lap, breath gently.  Don't deep breath as that can encourage dizziness anyway.  See how long it takes to pass, if necessary hold onto the table or chair edge.  I doubt that you will faint.  Keep hydrated too.

What does DH suggest?

Hi CLKD
My blood pressure is normal and only rises when aniexty & panic set in , I check this at home but not when I’m panicking as I see it high and panic more.

The GP said they will call me on Monday as I’ve said it’s been going on too long now
I’m awaiting a 24 hour ECG because the GP said he wanted to rule things out before saying it’s hormones this was last month & still waiting for letter as covid slowed most things down as you know that was more for the palpitations.

When I went about my head in March they put it down to long covid & migraine & did all blood work & all bloods came back ok.
They haven’t once asked about ears to be honest  but maybe Monday they might as this shouldn’t be happening every day.

I suffered with sinuses for a very long time but funni enough since I started HRT I’ve not needed my spray .. strange & strangely enough until this peri menopause only thing I ever went to docs for was my ears and sinuses lol 😂
Bet they wish I was still that person, although I understand that they can’t do much.
It’s just so frustrating
My husband is understanding and don’t know what to say .. and says this is your hormones it will be fine ( wish I was so positive as he thinks.. then he says this is life now 😂😂 ) he means well but because he don’t understand or feel it he don’t know what to say.
It’s Just so awful

I appreciate you replying and reading my rants .. although indoors the rants are not as polite hahaha

One Doctor said to me last month that antidepressants will help , but I don’t wanna mask it I wanna find out what it is & he can’t guarentee that they would help
Just strange how it just comes on every day then will pass eventually then come back. I don’t like it or understand it.
Could it be hormones .. maybe I need a higher patch who knows 🤷‍♀️

It could be hormones.  It could also be because your body is hungry, you say that it can occur at tea time?  Do U have a mid afternoon snack?

Yeah I always try eat small meals regularly , so today I had breakfast then a banana and then a salad baguette. Then was sitting down ready to eat ..
I do always get a hungry kinda feeling come to think of it
It’s just bizarre and needs to disappear fast
If it is hormones I hope they have an answer to get rid of it
Thanks for replying CLKD much appreciated xx

Not enough protein Girl, your body needs more sustenance in the heat as well as with changing hormones.

What's 4 tea most nights?

It depends on what I fancy as appetite as gone for some while , tonight I was having Nando’s ( garlic bread chips and hallumi sticks )
I’m a fussy eater seriously ain’t much food I like , but lately since I had the burning sensation near ribs, I lost appetite but eat because I know I have too. I’m taking Omperzole for the burning pain which eased the burning. And some days I have better appetite than others. But today after the episode I didn’t wanna eat the food as it puts me off food.. but u forced it down because I have to eat

I always loved a cuppa coffee but because I noticed I sweated more after a cup I cut down to one a day for few months now & could easily go without.

I’m now currently eating 2 biscuits as felt Hungry

I’m on warfarin for my blood so are a few foods I know I can’t eat , but luckily for me I don’t like veg as it’s vitamin K I have to watch

Morning.  How R U 1st thing in the morning?

What do you eat instead of Veg.?  There is no protein in your Nando meal.  We need protein to repair .........

Coffee - love the smell, makes me nauseous  :-X

Why can't you have VitK?  I love biscuits but they are hidden sugars  ::).  I choose those with ginger in usually as it's a good gut stabiliser for nausea.  Bananas are good for potassium.

I'm getting myself round a bowl of muesli with freshly picked white currants, sour   :o.  A little milk poured over, bl T 2 sugars to hand.

Morning
Some mornings I get up and feel fine then bang .. other mornings before I’ve even got out of bed I know it’s gonna be an awful day
Vitamin K apparently does something to blood and because I’m on warfarin was told not to eat certain things .. which was some veg ( lucky I don’t eat it ) and things like cranberry the list is endless. I’ve been on warfarin for 28 years since I had my son as I suffered numerous blood clots each time medication was stopped so they thought was best to stay on it for life .. i haven’t had a clot for over 20 years so it definitely helps and I get my inr checked & dose changed accordingly.
I’ve never let it over take my life unlike all this other stuff that is happening

I used to plan meals but now I don’t because since this burning in my side near ribs , I never really ever fancy anything to be honest ..with all that’s going on in my body , food  is last thing on my mind.
I do eat as I know I have too but sometimes that’s a struggle.

My friend asked me if I have had my blood sugars checked as everything I’ve mentioned on the feelings I get with this lightheadedness she said sounds like low blood sugar .. she did say the word began with H I can’t think of it now .. but I’m sure when my bloods was taken they would have checked this I presume.

I had a bad night with banging headache and took co codamol at 5am which did ease the headache but it’s not completely gone like it’s lingering
I’m hoping the doc will do somthing on Monday as this as been going on too long and actually interferes with my everyday life. And in all honestly I’m struggling

I did get this lightheadedness before I was on HRT but maybe not as intense  but that could be with all that’s going on in my body I’m noticing it more

I’m now currently eating my breakfast which is alpen bars as couldn’t face anything else this morning :(

Surely if this was hormones this patch woulda nipped it in the but by now.

It’s so weird tht I’ve gone from a happy go lucky soul to a non existent person.
I can’t believe how much all this as changed my life .. as I said before I never experienced aniexty until this year , This lightheadedness was this year
Hot sweats was last year and UTI last year but I managed
After having covid in January this started more intense ( could be coincidence )
They did say it was long covid at first but because the body aches hot sweats etc came before I wasn’t convinced. Migraines I had never experienced until last year , which was all before covid so was kind of a pattern although this year is far worse symptom wise & Migraine is rare for me this is probably the worst headache this week on and off since maybe March so they aren’t usually frequent.
Just so blood annoying .. I went away for a week in caravan and had 2 days where I felt ok .. rest was a total wash out with internal shakes , headache , lightheadedness and off balance feeling , racing heart ( felt like that ) and again now I’m back it’s the same.

Sorry to ramble on .. I sound like a broken record to my husband.. so I try not to over load him with my worries although he never as said anything I just presume as I know I’m sick of hearing it myself

I have arthritis in my neck and this causes exactly the symptoms you describe re headache and lightheadedness. You may benefit from some physio. I was in my late thirties when it began. It might be worth exploring whether you may have a neck problem?

Thanks taz for reply
I will mention this to GP
I’m hoping they gonna do tests to find out what is what
I will mention
Low blood sugar
Neck problems
Someone as said maybe I need higher patch maybe 75 as it could be my hot flush that’s causes it , as I get palpitations then clammy sweaty feet and hands and then shaky all at the same time as going lightheaded like I’m gonna pass out it comes on strong & then it passes after a while which seems like a lifetime and then I get it again

I do have arthritis in my fingers already which sometimes flare up and I do often get a niggly shoulder pain which I always thought was arthritis to be honest so will mention this to them.
It’s just too much where you can’t do things cause of constantly feeling off balance and like your gonna pass out.
And funny enough it’s mid cycle for me so could now I’m thinking about it could just hormones fluctuating but it as happened all this week ( maybe a lead up to ovulating ) it’s bloody awful & I do believe if I didn’t have that then I wouldn’t have aniexty as bad as this sets it off I believe
Who knows lol 😂
I could sit guessing all day/night
But tomorrow I’m hoping they finally look into this

I also have a nerve in the back of my neck which makes me feel, very briefly, woozy.  As you describe. Have U had a recent cevical spine X-ray?

Have a list ready to discuss with the GP?

The blood tests probably wouldn't have shown sugar levels, if diabetes for example is suspected then 1 requires a fasting (overnight) blood test ....... sometimes done by pin prick.

As oestrogen levels drop muscles may become lax = aches and pains which is natural as we age.

I don't think that you are eating 'enough' at the 'right' times ;-).  I suggest that you make note of everything that you eat/drink for 3 days/nights to see where you can improve you over all diet.  Also your exercise regime.  Anxiety feeds anxiety too.  Relax B4 your evening meal: sit quietly at the table with shoulders dropped for 5 mins..  Think too about where you type - is your lap top on your lap so that your head is down - that's my problem too.  (note to self  ::)).  A small adjustment in posture can make a huge difference.  As can foot wear ;-).

Let us know how you get on!

Thanks CLKD
I will mention all above to GP as I need to get to the bottom of this lightheadedness.

Some days I do eat more than others because of appetite and as I mentioned I always seem to get a hungry feeling and I always grab something but then the nausea feeling sets in and then can’t eat
It’s like a vicious circle
I have lost a stone since I went on HRT which to be fair I needed to lose it and in all honesty thts because of no appitite  which started when I got this burning in my left side by ribs .

My posture as always been bad not gonna lie , I slump when I sit which I try and remind my self not too do.

I pray for a better outcome off the GP tomorrow and hopefully some tests
Then if all comes back normal it can only be aniexty or hormones as all others should I hope be ruled out.

Do you think if it’s a surge of hormones because of hot flush .. I never usually get a flush & sweat .. it was just heat and always stayed for a while in my chest /neck/face  but you wouldn’t see kind of thing only from my expressions
If it is this causing it .. would I need a higher patch ??  Mad how when I started on 50 the first month all this disappeared apart from the aniexty & lightheadedness but it wasn’t as intense.
Then just came back ..
I want them to check my ribs aswell as they just said yeah take Omperzole but nothing was checked
As haven’t seen GP all done over phone calls because of covid

I hope she is ready for me 😂😂
