Storage of Ovestin
« on: July 20, 2021, 01:37:51 PM »

Just wondering about storage of Ovestin and if i should be moving mine from the bedroom drawer and bathroom cabinet in this hot weather.  It is saying 27c on the thermostat in our hallway with a half glass front door. I'm trusting that it might be less in the bathroom cabinet and bedroom drawer as the Ovestin says not above 25c.

I've done a search and one lady mentioned putting it in the fridge while abroad or is that too cool ?
Anyone else store theirs in the fridge ? now or all the time ?
Thanks for any replies

Criky I hadn't thought  :o but it's a long way from our fridge to the bedroom.  However, there is room for us both in there  ;)

What can I say but bless, you made me smile.

I’m from Queensland Australia so 27 degrees on a summer day would be a very cool summer day for us. Yes there is a lot of medication like Ovestin that says to keep under 25 degrees. I just keep mine in the coolest part of the house. Yes, I do have air conditioning, but I wouldn’t run it if I wasn’t home. And with our summers being about mid thirties or higher, I imagine the Ovestin does get past 25 degrees. On a good day we don’t go below 25 degrees at night, then there’s the killer humidity.

At the moment we are in winter and tomorrow’s temperature is supposed to be a very cold 5 - 20 degrees. I always seems to survive our summers and still work.

I hope the weather cool down for you  :)

Interesting thought Minusminnie!  Just checked the instructions for various HRT products I've got/used & instructions differ . . .

Lenzetto not above 25 but says don't refrigerate  :o ;D

FemSeven Conti says not above 30

Estradot temp not specified but says don't refrigerate

Testogel no special storage conditions

Estriol 0.01% (instructions same as for stronger Ovestin) not above 25

Vagifem says do not refrigerate

Have moved my Estriol to the fridge, but if it matters suspect too late as has been 30ish here for days & feels almost as hot indoors as out & is hotter at night ::)

As Lyncola says these products are used in climates hotter than we get in the UK, but it is a bit of a concern given how much we rely on them working as they should & a pack/tube etc may last a long time.

Ovestin, mines in the fridge. Didn't work so well one year on holiday in Greece so I always put in the fridge now when above 25°..

I know looking at the scary PILs we get with HRT is something some women would understandably rather not do, so seemed worthwhile listing those I'd looked up in case it saved someone else doing it!  It's easy to check the Summary of Product Characteristics online & scroll down to the bit on storage, rather than have to scrutinise leaflets.  Yes, fingers crossed it's not been spoiled by the heat.  At least the cream will be blissfully cool to apply!

Never thought of that with this hot weather!  Been too busy constantly sweating!
