Light but long period- is this normal peri stuff?
« on: July 19, 2021, 12:42:48 PM »

Every month in peri my periods are different , but usually last no more than 5 days. This month after finishing the utro I started to bleed as normal but this month it's now into day 8 of very light 'bleeding', probably more like spotting. had one normal heavier day then it petered off but hasn't stopped Sometimes brown and then a bit red, then brown again, then it stops, then starts again. No pain. last month was extremely light and short ( 2 days). I always worry when things deviate from the 'norm' though.
Would appreciate thoughts, does anyone else have this happen?

I wouldn't worry yet. The only thing that's guaranteed in peri is that everything will go haywire. I've had all sorts, light, heavy, a week of v light then full flow, etc etc. If you have  right red spotting during a cycle and you're not up to date with smears you should ask for one though. Are you on HRT, if so conti or sequi?

thanks sheila- I am taking 200mg for 12 days- well- I try to as sometimes the side effects are so horrendous I have to finish a bit early and so have an early bleed. Some months I can put up with the full dose but sometimes not as progesterone gives me bad  cramps and aches.
I do need to get a smear booked- I must do that, thanks for the prompting!

It’s still dribbling on. ;D Almost finished I think. It’s like my body is being really inefficient about getting it  all out. I would try and organise a smear but getting through to the dr now that COVID has isolated much of the surgery seems a pipe dream -40 min hold just to speak to a receptionist  :'( :'(

Talking to myself here I guess. Brown discharge stopped for a day and has now started again( after intercourse) . I’m due to start the utro today too. Will attempt to get through to a gp tomorrow- I probably won’t succeed as our surgery is snowed under .
Now feeling really worried 😟

It sounds normal for peri to me but if you can get through to the GP this may put your mind at rest. Ours have an online facility now where non-urgent queries are answered within five days. We also have a monthly newsletter via email updating us on changes to the appointment system and giving reasons for delays which does make me feel more connected.

Hope the dribbling stops soon.

Thank you so much Taz2, that has really helped to put my mind at rest. That’s a good idea re the online form- I had completely forgotten about that option. I’ll do one today. Getting a bit fed up of having to wash the stained sheets though, must be said :-\ :-\

Hi! I had about two weeks of on and off really light spotting then a break then a 16 day poor excuse of a period. I think it's fairly normal in peri but a chat with the dr would put your mind at rest x
