Thank you Whatsupwiththis and Lyncola.  I am going to print these suggestions off.  I will await the Olive and Bee and see if that does anything first, and then have a word with the GP, as I’ll need an increase in my prescription to try either of these suggestions.  She has been quite helpful and thinks the Menopause Matters site is a good site so, hopefully, might be open to suggestions from it!

Sometimes ladies need to add an extra 'vagifem' capsule i.e. in the afternoon as well as the usual one in the evening.

How long does it take you to get out and about each morning Lyncola, that's quite a regime  :o.  If it works, don't change  ;)

I said I would report back regarding the Olive and Bee.  So, it arrived last Wednesday and I have used it about 3 times a day since then, plus overnight every other night when I’ve not been using the Ovestin.  It’s the first product I have found helpful, after trying about 15 or so others I think, and which hasn’t made things worse.   I know it’s early days, but I do feel that I may have finally found something which helps.  I am using it quite sparingly, just a small amount on each application as, typically, it is one of the most expensive ones, but if it continues to help it is worth it.    I wish I’d tried it earlier!

Hi Haydo  :)

Thanks so much for reporting back.  It's gratifying to know that the Olive and Bee seems to be working for you - brilliant.  On the strength of your post I'm going to give it a try, on the assumption that of course what works for one person may not for another.  But worth a try all the same!

Yeah typical isn't it, it would be one of the most expensive  ::).  But on the principle that you pay peanuts you get monkeys, maybe the extra cash ensures a decent product.

Will see how it goes, and hope it continues working for you xxxx

Hi Lamplighter

I think it must be the combo of the beeswax and olive oil without anything else in it to irritate, as I’ve used others with olive oil, beeswax and other things which have definitely irritated me for days afterwards!  I’ve also used just organic olive oil, which didn’t irritate me but didn’t do much either.   Good luck.  I hope it helps you.  Would be interested to know what you think once you’ve tried it. I will see how I go with it too. xx

re: panty liners - if you need them - I bought some reusable/washable ones from Etsy, they're flanelette next to the skin and very comfy.

I can link if anyone is interested

Another tip from 'My Menopausal Vagina' is to mix your Ovestin in with Olive and Bee before putting it on.

It stops the stinging. I've found this invaluable. I'm another one who uses Ovestin and Vagifem on alternate days. Mine didn't get better for a year, but I'm much more comfortable now. It can take ages!

I just tried Balance Activ cream. Absolutely horrific, so much inflammation. Weird as the pessaries are great. I'm glad Olive and Bee is working for you, Lamplighter. I swear by the stuff.

I use Olive and Bee every night. My advice is when the tube gets to the point of nothing really coming out, get your scissors and cut the tube in half. You would be amazed how much is left in the tube (I would say about half).

I’ve actually until my whole new tube in to a glass jar, I found that when I first opened up my Olive and Bee that it was more waxy and then after a week more olive oil? No matter how much I shook it up (I live in Australia so our winters aren’t that cold). So having it in a glass jar gives me better consistency.

And I’m extremely proud that Olive and Bee is an Australian product  ;)

I also find Olive and Bee great for my ass. I use it very night on both my vagina and ass.
Last year I got a fissure and bled for the whole month of July, then it came a regular thing for me to bleed from pooping about one or two times a week.

About 4 months ago I’d started using Olive and Bee on my ass, I’ll can go months without bleeding now and if I do only about one day instead of two weeks or more. I think it keeps the ass moist? Don’t know really but it works :)

Just a quick update on Olive and Bee, which I've tried for a few days now - unfortunately it's not really helping (which I suppose isn't surprising as I'm pretty sure this continuing labial irritation is an internal thing and topical stuff doesn't really address it) - but I do have to say that of all the myriad creams lotions potions ointments and other that I've tried, all of which caused an unpleasant and uncomfortable sticking sensation, Olive and Bee is the least irritating.

So I suppose that's something   :)

Hi Lamplighter

Sorry to hear that the Olive and Bee hasn’t done much for you.   The Ovestin and Olive and Bee combo externally seems to be helping me at present (fingers crossed, as I’ve been here before).   Time will tell!
