High blood pressure on pre HRT check
« on: July 06, 2021, 05:19:16 PM »

Hello all.
I finally made an appointment to see my GP about considering HRT. I must say he was ace! He listened, nodded in the right places (recommended this group!) and although he was happy to prescribe HRT, my blood pressure was rather high.

I put it down to seeing him and the rush to get to the practice. He tried again after a couple of minutes but it was still high.

He can't prescribe HRT until we know what is the issue. I had to buy a home monitor and take readings twice daily, then after seven days, report back.

Even with being relaxed and at home, it is still high!
I am quite fit for my job, have menopause belly and extra waist but not seriously overweight and I wouldn't say I'm an overly anxious person.

I've cut down on the coffee, walking more and trying to get good sleep (best I can.....)

Any idea what else I can do? Or is this just me?

Thank you for reading  :)

Hi, I had the same problem.  I went on a low dose blood pressure tablet that brought it down then I started HRT.

You might find your bp is high because you’re concerned about the reading at the doctors. I had to do the 7 day test: 3 in the morning, 3 in the afternoon. The first couple of days were highish, but then it just went down and down as doing the tests became routine. Hope it works like that for you.
