Concidering The mirena Coil again
« on: June 24, 2021, 08:54:06 AM »

Hi Ladies,

I had the minrina coil 7 years ago and had a very tricky insertion under general anesthetic. I had it removed after 4 month as my legs swelled up below the knee .  I am wondering if it is worth exploring this option again? As I am further on down the line and mid fifties would it be worth trying again? Is there anything I should take into concideration?

I am concidering it again to give me more options with my estrogen dosage. Although I am worried about bleeding constantly.

Any advice or experience would be welcome .

I had mine in for the first time at the age of 56 and it has worked well for me. Some bleeding in the first six weeks, and then very occasionally since, in tiny amounts, six months on.

Hi Grheliz1,

thanks for replying. I am glad it worked for you.  That is good to know. The only thing I have reservations about are the stories of UTI's after having one fitted. And also whether it effects VA.
The menopause tends to make you worry about everything!
