I too am used to wearing a wide-brimmed straw hat and factor 50 on warmer days as I'm on AD's and HRT.

My AD increased sun sensitivity, so I tan at the merest hint of sunshine. Since I've added the HRT this has increased big-style. Of course since I generally have just face, neck and hands on show I end up with those bits ridiculously dark whilst everything else is pale. Basically the opposite of what I'd want, especially since I've always preferred the 'English Rose' look for myself, if not necessarily others. Tanned body and lighter face would be OK, but not the other way around.

OP, sorry that you burned. I guess hats and loose, light clothing in addition to the factor 50 are all you can do. All sunscreens aren't necessarily equal, and I find the sun gets through most of them, although the Korean brands like Yesstyle's 'Sunprise' is really, really good, presumably as the culture seems to favour fair skin over tanned.
