Newbie to this site, would love some advice
« on: June 02, 2021, 11:59:52 AM »

Hi, I am 52 years old and have felt peri for the last couple of years.....nothing too bad, low mood, a few pains irregular periods etc. But the last couple of weeks have been horrendous, the fear has been so intense. I do not suffer with anxiety on a normal day to day basis but omg this has hit me to the extent that I have now phoned the GP for help. I’m still learning about the menopause and want to find out more about these feelings and will they come and go with hormone fluctuations. Any advice and/or experiences would be great. Thank you x

Hi and welcome to the forum! I'm also a newbie, joined a week ago.

Sorry to hear about your symptoms. But I can assure you that you're not alone!!! So many of us suffer from anxiety and that is really the most difficult symptom to manage, at least to me. Somehow physical symptoms, even insomnia, are easier to cope with. But day by day I'm hoping eventually these symptoms will subside. My story is that I started HRT (Oestogel, Utrogestan) last year in the autumn, managed very well for a while, until in March it changed and I started getting new symptoms. Some of these I've been able to get under control with an increase of Oestrogel, but the anxiety is lingering and not really showing much improvement yet. :o

Are you on HRT at the moment? And do you take any medication for the anxiety?

Take care and let us know how you're coping! xx

Hi EllaAurora, thank you for your reply.

I’m not on HRT or anxiety medication. Today was the first time I have spoken to the GP regarding meno symptoms. I have been booked in for bloods for next week and then we go from there.

Like you, this anxiety is by far the worst symptom to deal with and has hit me like a brick over the last couple of weeks hence the phone call to GP. Hopefully once blood results are in the GP can prescribe (i was thinking miracle cure) some medication to help.

I’m sorry to hear your anxiety is lingering, I hope it will improve for you. Xx
