Does sugar help breathlessness? Interesting discovery.
« on: July 16, 2021, 03:16:58 PM »

Hi all

So all day I've been prettyy much breathless. It's a nightmare, like really makes me sad, depressed and tearful.

I wondered whether it has something to do with my blood sugar levels, though I know they're usually in normal range and certainly not Diabetic.

Anyway, I ate a bar of chocolate and the breathlessness went almost instantly! Anyone get that?

Why does that happen? Does our blood sugar levels become erratic during anxious episodes?

I think you are over-thinking.  Sugar doesn't work instantly ;-).

I used to become breathless a few hours B4 my period began.  Definitely hormonal 4 me.  Anxiety can cause your symptoms.  I suggest getting a large brown paper bag and breathing into it when you feel anxious.  It is relaxing.

Maybe the act of eating the chocolate took your mind off things and just helped you to relax which then corrected your breathing.
