Is this advisable?  My wife cannot function taking 100mg every day of utrogestan (been doing so for 8 weeks) - she is sleeping pretty much all of the time and has zero energy.  She hasn't had a period for 18 months but is more than happy to have them again if it means she can feel better.  The gel has done brilliant things but the tablet is wiping her out.   Would it make sense to try a sequi regime? If so, how does that work - we literally don't know where to start - but a week or so of feeling like this and having the benefits of the gel would be a 1000 times better than feeling this way all the time.  She doesn't want a coil.  She's already tried the conti patches but needed more estrogen.  Tried a couple of days with no HRT at all and flushes etc came back - I'm SO fed up of this menopause cr*p - I just want her to feel better.  Am also considering getting some testosterone from Superdrug Dr online    Thank you all.

GetStuffed, women tweak the utro/estrogel regime in different ways - I'm sure others will stop by to give their input - personally I take 100mg utrogestan internally (which is largely thought to mitigate the nasty side effects and is also better absorbed) and for only 7-10 days a month. This is a regime developed by a specialist called John Studd. It required checking the uterus lining every year with a scan to make sure it's not building up with the lower dose of progesterone but assuming it doesn't and assuming your wife doesnt mind having periods again this could be a way forward.
Do also try - insist - on getting a referal to a menopause specialist.Testosterone might help but the drowsiness sounds like a typical utrogestan side effect - especially if it's taken orally. all the best

Hi the Sequi regime is 200mg of Utrogestan for 12 days per month.

Did you look at trying Provera instead ? Or there is a progesterone called Lutigest ?

You might consider long cycle sequi. I use a 6 week cycle to get more 'good time' (but I'm a bit odd anyway as I've always had a 6 week cycle). Presumably she doesn't have much of a cycle herself if she's been on a conti regime so she could just stop the utro and call this day 1. If you use less than the recommended dose it should really be with the agreement of your gp or with regular scans. It would be worth trying vaginally but I use it this way and still get fatigue.

Thanks Sheila - how does your 6 week cycle work please?  Do you take the gel every day and add utro in on certain days, then bleed within days of stopping it etc?  It's so difficult to know what to expect!

Gel every day and utro a fortnight later, so instead of days 15-26 it would be 29-40 and bleed day 42. Same dose 200mg x 12 days.
