Hi all,
So when I googled 'can an extra pump of oestrogel increase anxiety', this board certainly answered my question, lol!
Ironic, given that it was a return of the more severe anxiety and panic attacks that prompted me to get a blood test to check all my levels, discovering my oestrogen had dropped lower, and was therefore possibly the cause of the anxiety...! It does make me feel better to know that it definitely seems to be a thing, because with the mental health symptoms, it's easy to blame something else, or winter depression, or life getting in the way, etc....but sometimes the cortisol and adrenalin spikes come absolutely out of nowhere don't they, and it definitely feels chemical - like one poster said - it's like overdosing!
I've asked my consultant if I can go back onto patches - although it was felt I was a 'poor absorber' when I tried them in the past (some women are), but it seems like at least that is a little more gentle and consistent for a baseline of oestrogen delivery - ie it's not a great big dose of gel all at once, twice a day. In theory I could then top up with a pump or half a pump a day.
I also have the progesterone intolerance issue, mitigated by Cyclogest pessaries for 12 days a month, which have been the least bad progesterone I've had - with that and the rollercoaster of anxiety, I really wonder whether I should try coming off HRT before they force me onto continuous HRT - my physical symptoms have always been less pronounced than the mental health ones.
I agree and stand with you all when you say it is just so distracting constantly monitoring and dealing with these issues whilst trying to cope with everyday life!
Well done to everyone, stay strong lol
