I’ve been struggling with perimenopause for around eight or more years.  I’m 51.  I am prone to cysts and have Microvascular Angina.  I asked my cardiologist if I can try HRT with my situation and medication and she said yes.

I’ve been struggling with night sweats, flushing, insomnia, restless legs, joint pain, fatigue, bloating and cramping, I’ve now missed around 7 periods and over the last few months the symptoms and new cyclical depression and anxiety have become way too much to bear.  I am really struggling.  I also get migraines.

I spoke with my lovely GP today.  They were sympathetic but seemed very reluctant to offer HRT and suggested that I have an antidepressant for the menopause symptoms as they don’t have the risks of clotting and breast cancer etc.

I said I’d like to try HRT so they’re looking into it because they said I’m complex with having the heart condition.

I told them I’d checked with my cardiologist and that they’ve said I can take it.  I asked for oestrogel and Utrogestan but am unsure if I’d need it cyclical or continuous.  If cyclical how would I know which 2 weeks to take the Utrogestan?  I don’t think my GP will know because they’re  not familiar with it.

I’m really hoping to have HRT.  Though I’m confused at the moment.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.
