Poo, ibs, bloating!
« on: May 04, 2021, 02:54:56 PM »

Hello ladies, just after some advice/reassurance  :-\ So since August last year have had awful bloating, pain but more concerning is my daily rush to the loo first thing! Sorry if it’s tmi but it’s very loose (not watery) normal brown, floats but is horrendously smelly! Like my family really moan at me  :'( I’ve had a test for h pylori, bowel cancer & celiac all negative. I’m 46 & been in peri menopause for about 18 months, doctor says ibs. I also have awful lower back pain, nausea as well as fatigue. There’s no trigger foods or cycle as it’s daily, also very anxious which I know isn’t helping x

Well IBS has been my companion for many years  >:( due to being anorexic.  Then my digestive system almost stopped working ....... anxiety will trigger either a rush or complete non result!

I have in the main, slow transit.  I feel like I need to go but nowt happens  :( - then all of a sudden, a rush!  My usual time is mid-morning, anytime after 9.30 a.m., the problem being that if we are scheduled to be anywhere at a specific time, nowt will happen! then the worry of finding a loo ........ like this evening, I've had a sudden rush of nausea because I haven't been yet  :-\ so am not going out with DH as I do Monday and Tuesday evenings  :-\.  In case my bowel needs to open and there isn't a loo!

How is your diet, I probably asked B4 ?  Liquid is a big issue, either not enough or too much which impacts on the whole digestive system.  I have found that junk foods: i.e. shop bought cakes, too much processed foods will make me bloated.  And feeling slow overall.  If it's slow and I feel bloated, I stop all meds for 24 hours, for some reasons that kick starts it the next morning.  If I go suddenly then I feel very sick and light headed = tiredness.

Onions make me ill.  I love 'em  ::)

Occasionally it smells.  Poo is after all waste matter.  What is in your diet that would cause your smelly poo?  Do your farts smell, mine rarely do  :ange:

Thanks CLKD I drink at least 2 litres a day usually 2.5? I know what you mean about needing to go instantly, my hubby says I’m in the bathroom you need to wait, I’m like there’s no chance of that happening  ;D I think my diet is pretty good lots of frozen veggies which I believe are as good as fresh & fruit. OMG my farts can literally clear the room  :-\ I’m hoping it’s all anxiety/hormone related x

Have a look at the information on The IBS Network. I’ve had IBS for 54 years, so an old hand! It definitely became more challenging since peri menopause. It’s good you have been checked for other causes. You are not alone!

You do defrost the veggies .........  ;) and yep, because they are frozen within hours of being picked, the goodness remains.

I have at last been ........ 'normal' but good that I stayed at home or I would have been really uncomfortable with wind.

Thank you Ju Ju I take a look, wow 54 years you must be exhausted with it all!

CLKD I slowly bring to the boil from frozen, especially love broccoli & cauliflower which I’m thinking aren’t so good for wind!

I now take the view that my body has done a brilliant job keeping me alive despite all that’s been thrown at it!
