Chest pains
« on: April 10, 2021, 09:26:09 PM »

Hello Ladies
I am post menopausal and for the last year I have had the Mirena coil fitted and use 0.25 Estraderm patches.

I have to say that now things have settled down I am actually starting to feel like my old self!

The only problem is I have recently started getting chest pains. They aren’t particularly worrying and I think it’s probably trapped wind?

It’s only started over the last couple months since taking the estraderm. I’m reluctant to stop taking it as it helps with my concentration and energy levels, but this uncomfortable feeling in my chest is making me consider stopping it.

Has anyone else experienced this?  :-\

What form do they take?  I had this a few months ago and it turned out to be costachondria.  Frightened the life out of me but after a couple of months of being careful it's begun to calm down.  It can be quite painful and alarming!

It’s difficult to explain. It’s mainly around the left side but feels like if you have had a really gassy drink, like trapped wind?

I recently took ibuprofen before I went running, and it was like a sharp pain, but then I carried on running.

I’ve stopped using ibuprofen and I think that’s helped. But that makes me think it’s gas or trapped wind?

Sometimes it’s just like quick sharp pain, even if I’m lying down.

It only seems to have started since using the Estraderm

Hmmm, my pain was more central.

I'd probably get the doc to check it out. At least have him listen to your heart and check your BP.  the costachondria came and went like that as well, but like I say, it was a bit more central, sort of inner boob area if that makes sense

Trapped wind can find all kinds of sinuses around the body.  4 me indigestion starts in the soft part in the belly between the ribs and spreads.  Sometimes into my chin and neck.  Never sweaty nor short of breath.

DH massages my ribs cage from the back which moves it around.

If it continues I might get the dr to check it out.
It’s just more of a concern than a worry. Just the occasional sharp pain, but I get it almost every day.

Ah sharp intermittent pain.  Rather than a constant dull ache ..........

Nuisance until you get a diagnosis?

Hi Sleepy123. I'd definitely get this checked out. You only get one heart and symptoms of heart problems are not always easy to identify especially in women. Intermittent symptoms can be particular difficult leading us to not want to waste the doctors time.
