Another Vagifem Question - Anyone Else Had This?
« on: March 21, 2021, 08:41:18 PM »

After a couple of false starts I have re-started Vagifem (after a visit to a gynae). The first one fell out after a wee in the night but OMG the second one had caused THE most horrible bladder/urethra irritation! I had the feeling of strong urgency for about 5/6 hours non-stop despite my bladder being empty. I had urethral discomfort and burning also. Everything felt 'wired' for want of a better description. It was awful - I got that shivery feeling you get if you don't go to the loo when you should - also non-stop. All calmed down eventually but dreading tomorrow.

These side effects are not described on the leaflet but they are on a similar product - Gynest (Estriol Cream). Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Iris, I've not had this but as I say I'm only 5 days in. Other ladies will be along with more advice I'm sure. Seems odd if you've used it successfully before?

Having replied to your other post on urinary incontinence, my feeling is that you should keep up the Vagifem if you can ride out the side effects, which ought to lessen once you get used to the product. The fact that the tablet fell out indicates that you might be dry inside, so you could try coating the applicator in a vaginal moisturiser such as Sylk or Yes VM, and this should help the tablet to stick to the vaginal wall. The whole area needs oestrogen, bladder, urethra, vulva, and pelvic floor.

There is a private Vaginal Atrophy Facebook support group, which is well worth joining for a wealth of info and support.

I hope you get on OK with the Vagifem eventually.
